Is this the worst drought in GPU inventory?  I remember in July 2017 it was pretty bad but I feel that this has gone on longer and there is still no end in sight. I bought some GPU's in December and got them all piecemeal as the inventory was beginning to dwindle.  I was planning on putting another rig together in Q1 2018 and have followed the stock but it seems there hasn't been an entry point.  Is this the worst drought in GPU availability?

It took patience to get all my components but I have everything but the GPU's for my next build.  I even put my open air case together yesterday!  It looks like I won't be putting it to use anytime soon, lol.

Yeah it is bad.

What gpus  will you want nvidia or amd?

I have sold all my:

 1070's
 1070 ti's
 1080's

all at low markups

Like a 400usd 1070 for 450usd --------  small profit but mined for a few months so good profit.

I  don't gouge  as profit is profit.

And I will be re-structing the solar array.

At the moment I have only 1080tis left.

and a rx 560 power color amd 4gb card

I'm looking for Nvidia cards.  Preferably 1070 ti's as I want to be the most energy efficient as possible.  How much are you selling the 1080tis for?

It's a result of a number of factors coming together at the same time. A worldwide shortage of DRAM, GDDR6 production for the new architectures typing up the production of GDDR5, AMD and specifically Nvidia currently switching production to the new products, while at the same time increased demand from Crypto mining. Supply will probably start to get better once the new architectures launch starting in 1-2 months. As for pricing, IMO that's going to take a while to get back to where it was at the end of last year.

I am wary that the new nVidia GPUs will be coming out with massive premium over msrp on day 1.
Not only will the first batches sell out at inflated prices, they will actually also sell out in an instant...

Do you think its best to wait and see what the new architecture puts out or buy the Pascal cards now (if you can get them)?

I'm not really in a rush to get the new rig set up as I just put one together and I only have electrical wiring for maybe 1 more rig.

I share this concern but if they really come out with the new architecture in the next couple months then its pretty clear they had a headstart in getting quantity up because they havent put any new Pascal cards out since, at the latest, December.  Even so, they may slow play it to milk us at a premium because they know we'll buy them.  Shoot, the 1070 ti's were selling for $469 in December and when they come in stock now, they fly off the shelves at $600+.

“Best” thing to do would be wait for the new cards to debut and buy pascals either new or used at a discount. The new cards never have the best cooling solutions right out of the gate. I have 1070ti’s running at 48-50 degrees.. big difference in room temperature when temps are in the 40’s vs 60’s

I need to inventory the array Tuesday

I have two Msi aero 1080ti
I have one asus turbo 1080ti
I have one zotac mini 1080ti

I have two more have to check what they are

That is a total of six.

I sell them all at about 775 each free shipping to the USA .  Some price flex not much.

Maybe 750 a card

It is a small mark up not insane like most others sell them.

All are gently used 70% tdp is my normal setting

I wouldn't expect much of a discount on the previous gen cards in this market. Case in point, I bought a Powercolor HD 7850 2GB card for $120 after a $30 rebate in 01/2014, while there was a price run up on GPU's at that time as well. Today I can still sell that card for ~$80 on eBay after 4 years.

As of right now i can garantee you that there has never been a time in history that GPU supply has been this low. In my country (Sweden) its literally impossible to buy a new 1070 and higher from a store. No matter at what price, there simply are not any left.
