It is impossible to forecast. The issue is that the bitcoin community is split in half (at least).

On the one side, there are people considering bitcoin as a trading tool. So indeed, their objective is to make large profit. So the best solution is to buy when the price is low and sell when it is high. For them, a high volatility is not an issue at all. They try to foresee what will happen on markets and may influence reaction through alarming announcements.

On the other side, there are people seeing bitcoin as an opportunity of societal change. The blockchain and related technologies may allow us one day to have a currency that doesn't have any control authority and allow its users to make any operations without anyone/anything able to manipulate such operations.

Here is the current situation. Sadly enough, I'd say that the first group is much bigger than the second one.

I think future of the bitcoin is bright as long as people are holding it and trusting it in the long run. The future will get affected with todays rules and regulations that may get imposed on the crypto currency and its use. This chapter will surely raise this year giving the bitcoin all new heights and all new direction for its further journey. Bitcoin is supposed to be accepted by now with the government services but somehow things are upside down now. Im sure that what Satoshi has created is work that no one could ever imagine and I think it has to be appreciated and it will be for sure!
