Sure you can.  You just have to be patient and put in the effort and talent to rank up--just like everyone else.  And if you're talking about bounties that don't depend on rank, it's a level playing field then, right?

I think the merit system is going to work out, and I've written this before so I won't write it again.  What I think the forum also needs is some tighter rules in place for campaigns, meaning that in order to run a signature campaign, participants should be required to have X merits and be Sr./Hero/Legendary, no negs from DT members, and probably some other rules too.  That's been discussed, but thus far Theymos has been silent on the matter. 

It's usually noobs who are shitposting, and they're obviously doing it because they're getting paid from a campaign or bounty, or they're desperately trying to rank up (not gonna happen these days).  I think with some campaign rules in place, this forum would really get cleaned up.  It wouldn't even require much extra effort from the mods.

With the implementation of the merit system, I don't think holders of several accounts would be encouraged to maintain their alternative accounts especially if their posts aren't recognized or merited. There are certain campaigns now that require a significant amount of merit scores. It would be hard for them to handle accounts and apply to campaigns especially when the requirements are not met accordingly. Maybe due to this, they would rather just focus on one account to assure profit.

I think with some campaign rules in place, this forum would really get cleaned up.  It wouldn't even require much extra effort from the mods.

So I totally agree with The Pharmacist. With improvements in rules and its strict implementation, this forum would be back to its optimum state.

It can reduce the number of spammers in these ways:

1) Staff can observe suspicious behavior of members giving merits to their alts. Those accounts can be banned or given negative trust.
2) Spammers will realize that there is no point in shit posting as no one will give merits. So they will leave.
3) Instead of operating multiple accounts, members will focus on one to rank up easily. Getting merits in multiple accounts is also hard.

But it can be lead to exchanging of merit if a person have multiple accounts even his post is not recognized by others he can used his alt account to give merit.

Yes, Manager Yahoo62278 already included merit for choosing participants in his campaign handled.

It would be hard for them to handle accounts and apply to campaigns especially when the requirements are not met accordingly. Maybe due to this, they would rather just focus on one account to assure profit.

I think we can not assure that they only focus in one account but the important is the merit system helps to lessen the spammers and make all the member will be more responsible in every single post they made.

Merit is a good approach from our admin in my opinion, but merit cant do it alone to get rid of spammer and account duplicate. There must be some adjustment made to make it happen, such as :
1. For people who can gives merit, try to gives merit to one who really deserves it. If merit is given to the right person, then it will bring more positive things for the forum.
2. For bounty and signature campaign manager, try to adjust merit to some rules for the job appliance, it can helps to reduce alt-account because it will be hard to earn merit for alt account because people with alt accounts tend to do a shitposting and spamming.

Number 1 can be heavily subject based on person's point of view of "worthy" posts, so it is kinda hard to make a standart for it, while number 2 is achievable through people who manages campaign in this forum. There are not so many by now, i only know yahoo62278's campaign with some merit rules in the job requirement, and i guess this is where the campaign's future heading to.

First of all please correct the title of the thread. It  should be duplicate instead of dublicate. Merit system will reduce duplicate accounts for sure. With this system, members are having hard time getting one account ranked up, so multiple accounts are sort of useless now.

I do not think that it will eliminate duplicate accounts completely. Members here make duplicate accounts for a number of reasons. Sometimes they need it to bump own offers, services and they need not a account with high merits for that.

It won't eliminate alt accounts but it severely restricts them. Before, anyone was free to create an unlimited amount of accounts here and all they had to do was spam their way through ranks making one line shitposts and you could even do this by just merely posting a bitcoin address in a giveaway. Do that 480 times over a year and a half you've got yourself a Hero account. Use a bot to do so and you don't even have to do anything at all (and many people were doing this). Now doing this will get you nowhere because if you're not making quality posts then you will never rise through the ranks. It's going to be hard enough to rank up one account so having multiple accounts is likely now out if the question unless you can make posts worthy of receiving merit.
