I don't think we need to take Vitalik Buterin statement seriously and the reason is HE is DEVELOPER and NO ONE Can control or predict anything about Cryptocurrencies.

Vitalik Buterin have sold some of his share with Eth Price is 8$, he never imagined that price will even go above 500$ but this happened and now the only reason he passed this statement because many people started investing their life-saving in cryptocurrency and he want to restrict such people to invest in crypto coins where price is very fluctuating and no one can predict where price will go and how people will act on it.

If you will look at his current holdings, Still, Billion $ holding dude.
That's why he hates any ICO that uses him as a shield to shady project instead of bringing real solution to the existing problem in the conventional system - that is what cryptocurrency is all about.

But for myself, I go 90% of all my holding in crypto.

I agree, that's must be the idea behind his words. I remember that also in the past Vitalik has been kinda "hard" talking about the cryptos, but I don't know if it's because he actually cares about people potentially losing money or if he prefers to have less "useless" people in this world, people who got in only to make some money, without caring about the real benefits of the system.

Vitalik is not saying anything that we have not heard hundreds of times before and that any smart investor should know. Cryptocurrencies are a new and vulnerable technology and are very much speculative. Even in the best case scenario, many many crypto's will fail and fall to near zero. Worst case scenario they almost all will.

He is simply managing expectations and ensuring people do not enter the market with the wrong idea, we do not want these type of investors who think that failure or loss isn't a possibility.

I don't trust the opinion of famous people. When someone says that this or that coin is good - it jumps up in price when someone says that the coin is bad - falls. These are elements of HYIP and do not need to give them too much sense. On the other hand, these words can be taken out of context or misunderstood. I think you need to watch the full interview to make any conclusions.

At least the guy is honest give him that.. Crypto market is highly speculative.. recent FUD's from kore , india and other countries are proof of that.. banning crypto bla bla.. I would not say bitcoin, ethereum or litecoin will go to zero but most of the altcoins that have no use apart from a fency name are destined to fail you will find most popular personalities have already said that in few year many tokens will worth zero. Crypto is here to say but shitcoins aren't

No one can predict what may happen to cryptocurrency tomorrow - wrong. It is the phenomenon, which price is mainly based on demand. So while people need it - it will become more valuable

I think he says it because he wants to protect people from stupid, thoughtless decisions.

Many sell cars and apartments, take money and buy cryptocurrency or equipment for mining. They do not understand the risk of losing everything. They have dollars and profits in their eyes, but this is not true. I invest as much as I'm ready to lose. This is a risk and no insurance at all.

He just want to warn most of us because thats the truth,people doesnt care about the risk until they have faced the great dooms of their life,more peole are investing their life savings and hope that it will make them millionaires,it really can but the thing is the risk of losing their investment would be very high and irreversable,vitalik doesnt want people to take his stament seriosly but he just want to wake up most of the people that this is just all temporary.

Well he is not wrong, any market that has risk could easily drop to zero if all confidence is lost. However, I don't know why he would underestimate the tech that he created, weird that the creator themselves loses confidence before the market does. Only in god damn crypto would that happen lolz!

Yeah exactly, ive seen some crazy people who sold everything they have and even make a loan to bank. This is very risky decission and that guy can end up losing money. We all know that cryptocurrency is very fluktuable there no way some coin always increasing in term of price

Not sure, but to me it somehow feels like he "had" to say that. I mean we all know it could got to zero anytime, but also we aren't at that time yet. It's still pretty early.

Only problem might be that banks could one day have their own decentralized currency, and then again whole point of cryptocurrencies will be questioned, since it will again be in hands of one entity.

He might be right because the cryptocurrency's market is too volatile,to the point that manipulations are getting worst.All the people who has the most bitcoins would be the one who are responsible for the whole market's faith.His statement is valid and he just want us to realize that possibility of losing money in cryptocurrecnies are much higher than any existing market in the world.
