Coming to a Home Depot near you.

Your local Home Depot store may soon feature a Tesla kiosk offering solar roof tiles that blend into your roof, at-home energy storage systems and other alternative energy products, reported a Daily Mail article.

Starting in the first half of this year, Tesla, Inc. will set up solar energy kiosks in selected Home Depot stores. These shops will sell solar tiles and high-capacity Powerwall batteries. The company's long-term goal is to establish a presence in 800 Home Depot stores across the U.S.

A similar partnership previously existed with Home Depot and the defunct alternative energy company SolarCity. Tesla acquired SolarCity in 2016 and later phased it out.

The planned kiosks will feature huge displays measuring 12 feet by 7 feet. In addition to showing off the solar roof tiles and Powerwall batteries sold at those small stores, the displays may also demonstrate the operation of Tesla solar power products.

Cool

That is so cool! I just hope that it won't cost us an arm and a leg to actually put this on our roof. Also, i hope it would be durable enough to last for a long time even with rains, hails and snow even the occasional baseball on the roof. But we should support this since electricity prices are absolutely insane these past few years. Considering we are very mich dependent on electricity to support our growing dependence for gadgets. Besides, it's green and eco friendly

Maybe solar can be installed without the city knowing about it and raising property taxes!

DuPont developed this several years ago. Maybe you are only hearing about it now, because DuPont employees have been quietly installing it on their own roofs over the last few years.

Power demand is high in my country as electricity is in short supply.
If the populace are oriented on the benefits of alternative energy
via solar power sources, it shall make a very good market.more so,
it is a clean energy which does not affect the eco system negatively.
If the cost consideration is effective, then so many distributors shall
emerge to market this solar product.

Solar tiles have been available for many years. What's new is their availability at stores for the DIY crowds. but I'm not sure many people will buy them. I mean I can fix electricity and some plumbing at my home, but I can't imagine to redo my roof myself.

I used to be a citizen and a taxpayer. Those days are long gone.
