Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

A soft cap is the minimum needed for the project to proceed and a hard cap is the amount that they will accept no more than. For instance a soft cap could be 10 million and a hard cap 30 million meaning if the project does not attain 10 million it will not proceed and also if it reaches 30 million no more can be contributed.

I've also seen something like halftime goals between caps — those are like softcaps for different levels of functionality for the project the money is being raised for.

A hard cap is described as the maximum amount a crowdsale will obtain. Most projects set a very high cap that is not likely to happen. A soft cap is the amount received at which your crowdsale will be called a success. It is the minimum amount required for your project.

Strange definitions. I am going to search for more documents about this issue using Google. If your information is right, investors should consider carefully and taking deeply consideration about those two before investing

A hard cap is basically the maximum amount a crowdsale will receive and most projects set a very high cap that is isn't likely to happen. A soft cap is the amount received at which your crowdsale will be considered a success...the minimal amount required by your project.

Hope it helps  Grin

Hard cap refers to  the maximum amount a  ICO/company intends to raise through crowd sale while soft cap is the minimum amount which company  plans to raise for its project to take of ground. So companies generally have basic requirements which are taken care by soft cap   while hard cap funds are for future expansion for markets or diversifying into other projects

Many crypto projects raise the limit very high during the initial phases of its launch. These hard caps are difficult to reach. Nonetheless, it all depends on the popularity of the ICO. If it has been rightly promoted, it can reach the target easily. Hard cap refers to the maximum fund required to set up the business.

When a project open crowdsale in order to collect funds from investors. They usually set softcap's and hardcap's value as the limited stakes for the funds.
Softcap is minimum capital threshold to run their project. And hardcap is opposite of softcap meaning maximum capital threshold. When hardcap reached, the crowdsale will be immediately close and the project will run also.
