Need an advice with a gold chain.

I held this gold 18K from Jennifer Fisher Jewelry as a gift my gf received and she is looking to get rid of it but we don't know the price, as she doesn't exactly knows the model.


This item as been verified to be 18K real gold from JFJ.

There are a couple of options:

1. Sell the necklace based on the published price of Jennifer Fisher Jewelry which is the least likely option a sensible and prudent buyer would follow, given not everybody knows the brand. If somebody offers to buy based on the chain's retail price, they might want a discount.

or

2. Sell the necklace based alone on it's weight x price for 18k (Au 750) gold

or

3. Sell it as scrap gold. You can use this scrap calculator to give you an idea of what you might get:

Buyers will usually assay or test the gold first to ascertain it is definitely solid 18K and not just plated, even if you have the chain's paperwork.

You can easily sell it on here around spot price but you would need to get an accurate weight in grams.

It looks like a nice chain, and you might get at least spot price for the gold on the forum,but I've noticed that bitcointalk is not the best place to sell anything, not even precious metals.   

If you've got to have bitcoin for it, selling it here makes sense, but if you're looking to get the most for it, try selling it where you get the most eyeballs--eBay is the first place that comes to mind. 

I don't think you'll get the best price here.

I'd be happy to buy it for melt value as others have said, but yeah, that is kind of a waste if its not a damaged necklace, which it doesn't seem to be. Look for similar style and length necklaces and sell it at a comparable price, fleabay is probably your best bet, even considering their 10% take.

Yes, that looks like the exact same chain. $2k. That's really expensive for 13 inches (the shortest length offered) and the links don't look very thick which suggests it's probably the brand which commands that price and not the actual gold content.

This is a luxury piece of jewelry, not really ideal for gold investment, but I'm sure given the hefty price the quality of craftsmanship rivals those of top brands.

You won't get $2k here unfortunately.

Thanks everyone for the fast replies, I looked into the link given by kill before but when the price came out I couldn't believe it was that one and as I don't have any idea how much gold cost at all, I prefered to ask about this around as I see people who knows about and willing to share thoughts.


It's weight is 10.45g and about 330-340 usd worth as 18k Gold Melt Value.

Yes probably we keep it for us unless we'll find a deal on for this, Il later make an auction for the chain ~1k floor and it probably won't get sold.
