Hello all,

I am trying to put some spare old parts to use for mining. I have the following setup:

Windows 7 64 bit
G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Memory
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ Windsor Dual-Core 2.2 GHz (non AES-NI CPU)
ASRock ALIVENF6G-VSTA Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
EVGA 600 Watt White PSU
XFX R9 280x GPU

I'm trying to use NiceHash Legacy 1.8.1.8, and it isn't detecting any hardware. Is the AES-NI requirement only for CPU mining? Or would that also prevent my R9 280X from being detected?

What are my options? Is there other mining software that doesn't require AES-NI CPUs and are they safe without that encryption if I'm only trying to mine using the GPU?

I can't find any AM2 processors that are AES-NI. Does anyone know of an AM2 processor that is AES-NI?

Thanks

Hi Folks,

Just an update. I now have the r9 280x working on nicehash with an old intel duo (non aes), ddr2 memory, and pcie 1.0 board. Bringing in about $1.50 a day. Not bad for hardware that was just collecting dust.

My problem before was driver/software related. So it can be done Smiley
