https://mtgox.com/users/withdraw: "If you live in the US or EU we can send it to you by direct deposit. Minimum withdraw amount in the US by direct deposit is $800. There is no fee."

Has anyone used this before? I would like to know if it is reliable.

I've never used, but MtGox has built some reputation here already. He's shown honesty before, so I would trust.
Or your trust issue is somewhere else?

I have no specific reason to doubt integrity, but verification is always desirable.

I've made US ACH withdrawals a number of times with no problems.  Mt. Gox currently restricts ACH withdrawals to $1000 per day, so if you request a larger amount it will be spread over several days.

I have made two successful withdrawals from Mtgox using ACH to a US bank account.  Mtgox was professional and responded quickly to emails.
