No one in Crypto world was expecting to see ethereum going over $1000 on the first month of this year, not even me but it touched $1500 two month ago and now it's below $900 today. ETH has been consistent over the years and I think by this year ETH will reach the top position of popularity, Ethereum was build in a solid foundation and has been one of the backbone of altcoin and also a lots of developers are working on ETH. I hope, Ethereum will reach $1200 again within March or April, 2018.

I prefer to trade it to be honest. I don't think Eth will have any long term value. Too many problems with scaling and a huge attack surface of the protocol in general. And lots of competition!! Look at all the other smart contract platforms out there.
But if you know how to trade you can make some really nice profits with Eth as it is a coin with high liquidity and some nice patterns it repeats again and again.

All of the top 5 coins have competition of course but I think eth is a pretty unique coin.

$400 is really a very long way to go. But for next month if its possible for Ethereum to get back at $1,200? Who knows? I have sold most of my ETH before when it was lower than $800.
