do you have any strategies for identifying what's a shitcoin and what truly has potential? What's worked for you? Can you smell shit a mile away or do you have to get into it before you figure out what you're involved in?

Generally speaking, it is easy to judge whether a token is shit coin.
You just need to focus on gtihub, because a good project will always update the code, but shit coin may not be open source at all.

Sometimes I had to come in to understand, but in principle bitter experience taught me to recognize small problems in new projects, which simply destroy them in time. If there is neither support nor development, let alone a coin is not liquid at all, then why waste time and money.

You have to look at the business model. If it is good then that is good project. If the business model is useless then the coin is only shitcoin. Actually there are many more indicators but for this time I only now this one.

Any coin I feel it is just a duplicate of exisitng project or lack a solid team to develop the platform. The team is very important because if you looked at Dadi ICO recentlt, the idea was just a copy of SONM idea but people trusted the team behind the project and were able to raise the needed amount

Such coin usually has anonymous or weak team with unskilled members, it doesn't have normal WhitePaper.
I'm not even talking about the alpha version or any Escrow...

Well many shitcoins out there without project but it's difficult to identify if that shitcoin has potential, it depends to the whales if they are going to pump up that shitcoin or the people who want to support that shitcoin, like dogecoin.

Shitcoin is any cryptocurrency that is disliked by the person talking about it or pejorative term used to describe an altcoin that lacks any new or advanced technology, or a coin that has become worthless after launch.

Everyone has different perceptions about shitcoin, so not all the shitcoins that others say are true and not all the shitcoins we say are true.

It depends on the people what strategy they use to know what is the shit coin, but i think we dont know what is the shitcoin if you dont inter or make research from the project were you are interested to join.

I am trying to be very strict when choosing a coin.

For me to invest project must have:
  • A working product that I can test
  • Active github repository
  • All star team (2-3 team memebers with experience in major companies)
  • All star advisors (2-3 advisors that have experience with major projects)

And only if the project passes all these 4 points, I start digging into the idea, whitepaper, competition and roadmap.

Usually you check the team behind the project if they are trustful and you also need to know what is the problem they are trying to solve and does is it widely use by many? Github is also important to know whether there is a development going on in the project.

There is no single model to figure out such things. Every project has its buts, pros and cons. You must do specific research every other time. But even if you think the project is gonna 100% rock,  it may crash and vice versa.

I totally agree with open source code and active dev support.
But why exactly do you need star team?

As for me, if the code is sound and the project has worthy idea - i will look into it

There is no true way to know if a coin is a shitcoin people will still trade it and if someone is in early at a good price they can still make considerable gains from a shitcoin.

Potentials are not tokens, the potential is the project itself, and tokens are a form of commitment and form of your investments, so if the project itself has a very good idea then the prospects will be good

When I see "trolen" coin, like "Jesus Coin", I have no doubt that this shitcoin  Grin. Only Dogicon turned out to be. When the coin came out, check it very simple. If the coin is well traded on different exchanges and there are good trading sizes - this is a good sign. If nobody needs a coin, it's a shit coin.
