I have just applied for an account at Libertarian's Forum, but what immediately struck me as authoritarian is their User Agreement which talks about not violating laws, copyrights etc. Additionally, it requires the administrators to approve accounts. Everything looks authoritarian thus far.

Has anyone had any experiences there?

No link but unfortunately that kind of bullshit is all over on the internet because of webhosts rather than the website owners, despite being for freedom of speech etc. you'll often find stuff like this always hidden in their user agreements and acceptable use policies.

There may be older webmasters with lots of experiences of trolling, spammers, etc... Once you've bitten a few times, you'll become cautious.

Are these libertarians running their servers from authoritarian countries that could shut down their servers due to their users breaking laws?

Do those libertarians have more power than the militaries and police of the authoritarian countries that they are running their servers from?

Just like the rest of our lives, these libertarians are forced at gunpoint to abide by the laws of the people with more power.

Aside from the fact that I would expect this on a forum.... there are plenty of authoritarian libertarians out there.  Wink

I wouldn't mistake a compliance with rules/law as acceptance of them.

That is exactly what acceptance is. If you do not comply, it means you're viewing their enforcers as only a muscled and armed force of might-makes-righters.

Besides that this is probably just the standard not changed text from the forum software. What do you think will happen if they approve violating laws, copyrights etc?

Most libertarians are also against taxes, most still pay them, because... well if you don't they'll just take it with force. Your site doesn't comply with the law? Well they'll just shut down your server and rob you from possessions and/or freedom.
