Transactions must be included in a block to be properly completed. When you send a transaction, it is broadcast to miners. Miners can then optionally include it in their next blocks. Miners will be more inclined to include your transaction if it has a higher transaction fee.

The shipping (either really slow or really expensive) on surface mount USB plugs appears to make actually fixing it probably not worthwhile. (Not much in the way of electronics suppliers out here.)

You're right, that wasn't a problem a useless old proprietary cable, a pairing knife, electrical tape, a soldering iron and 20 minutes couldn't fix.

I really do need to work on getting better tools for working with wires though.
