Please stop using space after each sentence Embarrassed

If that was aimed at me - the whitespace is generated by the forum software. I don'r even have a newline after the full stop.

Given that the author of this thread only has 2 merit himself, this could be a clever strategy to get some cheap merit from other users that are annoyed by newbies asking for merit  Tongue. I am however sure that this is an honest post that was caused by the authors disgust for spammers  Grin.

No I don't think it is an honest post. I will go with your first submission that it is a clever strategy to get merit for himself going by the click bait title. Being a newbie I was tempted to click only it see its all BS

I respect your opinion and your judgement, But nice try, if you’ve been here long enough or probably studying about btc. You know what I’m talking about. And fyi, how can you make a statement if you don’t have a title worth clicking on. Hey bud, you should read more, study more about our community, maybe you’ll hit your head someday knowing what it feels like seeing people begging for money and respect rather than earning them. Welcome to the world of cryptocurrency bud, nothing’s for free here, work your way on top, don’t beg for it, that’s just disgusting. You got a long way ahead kid.

Please, just stop stopping us. We dont want to be manipulated and beibg stopped.

All that I have is all that you've given me
Did you ever worry that I'd come to depend on you
I gave you all the love I had in me
Now I find you've lied and I can't believe it's true
Wrapped in her arms I see you across the street
And I can't help but wonder if she knows what's going on
You talk of love but you don't know how it feels
When you realise that you're not the only one
Oh you'd better stop before you tear me all apart
You'd better stop before you go and break my heart
Ooh you'd better stop

Sam Brown - Stop

Wow, another post for earning activities that’s not really necessary to post. Get outta here young fella. Learn to post fruitful comments and post rather than this garbage. This is a forum for btc not forum for bs.

Danny put it excellently and if I could put it in context or give a reference I would love to attempt to make this even more clear and salient. Activity acts as a participation trophy for taking place in forum discussions while maintaining a bare minimum requirement not to spam and some other criteria. Merit acts as a trophy for a contribution deemed worthy by another member who has also contributed to the forum and now is able to pay it forward.

Asking or begging for merit would be like a fighter asking or begging for the title and belt without making their mark. This is like an actor looking for a nomination without playing a significant role.

This is a much broader mindset and it can be applied when looking at any endeavor, but you must be willing to be the fool. Be honest with your limited starting knowledge  and do not be afraid to be the fool. Everybody starts somewhere and as long as you are operating on the same base principals and core foundation as the rest of us have agreed to then you are free to progress past being the fool with your own determination. Do not expect to earn merits, ever, rather hope to assist, contribute and inform others in a way that is meaningful and significant. Challenge yourself to learn more and be more, merits will soon become representative of what you have brought forward to the community. In my case, I believe I have been over-merited for my contribution so you might even find yourself lucky in that regard.
Since the merit has been implemented here in the forum is easier to detect which people are here with the only goal to earn some money, instead to give good contents to the forum. Nevertheless, I understand it can be somehow difficult to achieve a good position in order to get some paid activities.
I believe those begging for some merits are just newbies who don't understand how the forum works. They just want to get a bounty campaign with no effort at all.
It is sad to see how the forum has become, rather than a place where information is free for all, a place where a bunch of people wants to earn money at no cost, instead of people trying to give their best in order to get merits, rank up, and become important collaborators.
The merit system, at the first, didn't convince me at all, it remembers me the "likes" on the social media. Now, I fully understand why are they necessary, for, as you say, what the forum needs is meaningful and significant contributions.
Everyday we see desperate attempts, such the one we are answering right now, to get some merits. Maybe it is time to open a "merit contest" or something like that, in where the best publication wins some merits, and where everybody here can participate. Who knows, maybe it is useful for people to make their best for once, and a real opportunity to get some merits.

STOP!! PLEASE STOP!!

STOP BEGGING FOR MERITS.

I’ve seen a lot of posts here from low rankers who were asking for merits. Such a shame guys!

Merits are like “RESPECTS”. Show people respect, show community some respect and most importantly, show admins and the rules here in bitcointalk some RESPECT.

If you can’t give them some of that, you won’t earn some bud.

Get merits or rather EARN merits like everyone else.

It’s just a matter of giving respect to the community.

I agree with this completely. I believe earning things rather than begging for it. Respect earned is more prestigious compared to respect begged for. Try to earn everything you have rather than get it the oppsite way

Finally! A newbie that agrees and sees the opportunity that they’re missing. That you for understanding the pros of having something to work for rather than begging for reward you didn’t earn. Good luck to us good sir. You have a good one.

It's kinda dishonest way of earning merits if you beg for it. The rules implied here by the admin is a way of challenge for us to make a better and a much constructive post. If you feel like you got a very good and constructive post but no one has given you a merit for that, then that's fine. Just don't stop because someday, your endeavor will pay off.

Agree on this one. And nothing’s more satisfying and being proud of when advancing to the next rank when you earn a lot of merits. It’s like blood sweat and tears for each rank. Not just posting a lot of activities but posting quality ones. It’s not surprising that someday, a lot of newbies from today will be a lot more experienced than other members who were here before because of how hard merits can be earned.

There's been a series of (borderline) merit begging posts on this board today, check them out:

merit system - OP wants to create a thread for "low rank people like me to earn merit"

I need merit - OP is basically asking for merit

There's also a thread from someone asking what the price of Bitcoin is. Beginners & Help is always good for a laugh when there are now real questions to help answer.

The newcomers are restless.

How do you explain this?

The merit system is like a lottery. Some times you win, some times you lose, and the lottery ticket is a posted message that is well thought out, well timed, well intentioned, and/or well researched. There's a bit of luck that makes a play too. Compare this one thread to all the threads complaining about merit and you'll find a theme to it all.

This is just a matter of studying and understanding our community, you want merits? Post high quality posts that can make a statement for making a change for the better of the community. Simple as that. Posting is free anyway, but speaking with your heart out for out community earns respect.

I think asking is not a wrong thing. Newbies wants to know about these field. Everyone want to go up when they are in now. So in highest rank people give their hand for others because we have a responsible for help others.

You’re talking about spoon feeding there bud. If others really want to help you be successful here, they won’t give you merits because you beg for them. They will give you merits until you learn how to earn one.

A perfect ideology for this will be “Give a man a fish, and you’ll feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you’ll feed him for life”. Now if High rankers will give merits to you cause you just beg and beg for merits, well, you won’t learn the best way to earn merit. And you will never learn the basic and perfect princible of posting with quality.

Merits are for those deserving members of the forum only, but some members sell thier merits just to earn bitcoin which is not allowed, they should start making a move on this action by some members.

You can search it in the search bar while you’re on the trading forum. Read a lot of basic trading principles as well. Just scan through the forum of trading.
