https://news.bitcoin.com/46-last-years-icos-failed-already/
  • 46% of them are effectively dead already – despite raising over $104 million.
  • 902 crowdsales... 142 failed at the funding stage and a further 276 have since failed

Only 46%? Then it was a very good year for ICOs. I thought the number of losers was bigger. It is still very risky to invest in these projects. However, I am sure that the situation will be improved soon.

Since the ICO came out later almost coppy followed but the ICO succeeded earlier. It does not bring much Hope as well: Offers more demand. When supplies are not available, Demand will automatically decrease. Drag along that is the failed ICO.

Not sure how they get these stats? 95% don't reach hardcap so most of those would count as a failure.

Well it that stat is true then I'm pretty sure that one of those reasons is that they haven't reached softcap or hardcap. But there are projects that reach both, but failed anyways.

The problem with most of the project is sustainability. After the project becomes successful, the devs doesn't stay active that's why the coin suddenly disappear so I will also count that as failure in any sense.

This percentage of failed ICOs last year is very high, but these numbers do not surprise me. Many people just to speculate and try to get rich decide to create a blockchain platform without a project and a quality team and inevitably fail, making people lose a lot of money. An industry regulation to protect investors is urgent for this reason too

Yeah sadly its also somewhat valid for 2018 past icos too. ICOs lost past gas behind them.
I think it was also bit affected by bear market too. People stopped buying more coins, sadly.

Indeed all the projects are unlikely to succeed all must have failed. Therefore we must be clever to choose the projects that will succeed in the future.

As for me this year will be less fail projects and more reliable in which you can safely invest and wait for profit !

What did you want? Has anyone been interested in statistics of regular startups? It is believed that 5-10% of successful projects is a good indicator. Investors lose in 90% of cases and it is considered to be perfectly normal! The remaining 10% covers losses. Why do you think that ICO should be on the other?

If you want to invest in ICO, then pay attention to the project Vireo. This ICO is very interesting and promising! Try it!

Well I am not surprised, Most times I will look at some project and shake my head, Some project don't have any value, No use case for blockchain, nothing at all, their team are nothing but hungry people who have failed in their various fields yet they want to do a blockchain project, some of them don't even have a name on the space. Well ICO game is changing as people learn more about the space, plus the regulations happening, soon any project that doesn't have any value won't even raised any money not to talk of reaching their soft cap.

It sad to hear that news, but this is the reason why this Business is risky. However, you can avoid such things if you will follow a good team and invest in something unique and has sense.

This is true in which i have loss some of my capital from these ICO too. This is maybe because the market will trully depending on Bitcoin performance in which many Altcoins are affected too after the ultimate dip of Bitcoin price. Now i have observed that many ICO are doubtful to launch there ICO because of current Bitcoin performance which is currently in difficult.

yeah. it is not a good news for us, but still if there are many ICO's failed I am sure that there are some ICO's that until now are doing good.also, there are new ICO.the bitcoin is the main coin so the alternative coin is only based on the bitcoin price.so think carefully what you want to choose if it have a good performance or not

Even we don't see the numbers we all can tell certainly what's really happening. Many icos failed and some are just scam so it's hard to easily sway by their platform. And seeing this numerous fraudulent act I prefer now to just invest in coins that already have high liquidity and established platform.

Let the market grow more and wait for it and then you can do your investment.

It seems to me when you invest in an ICO, it does not matter very much if the market is strong, or weak. As for this 46 %, I thought this percentage was much higher. I supposed that over 60% failed.

Well, there are some bad tendencies for ICOs for sure. I regularly encounter projects, which collected only 20-50% of the planned sum. However, that's still a decent amount of money.

That is why it's wise for people to join projects that are within the range of their soft cap. They have a higher chance of getting paid that way.

As in any other business, only one attempt out of ten is successful. The strongest wins.
