That would be NEO,because it is called as the chinese ethereum and its platform is a lot better than ETH.NEO has NEP5 tokens which could replace the old ERC20 tokens in the near future,we are already started to see that most of the developers today are started using NEO as their platform because NEO's technology is more future proof than ethereum's platform.

You have heard it right,NEO is the one who could replace ethereum's position in the near future because it has more advance platform than ethereum's platform.NEO is using NEP5 tokens which is more future proof than the OLD ERC20 tokens of Ethereum,the developers are starting to use NEO as their platform that is why NEO is getting a lot of attention this year.

For a long term hold there are no rivals. Ethereum is on the top of any list as for me. This coin/platform is gonna have great future. Actually Ethereum has a lot of competitors for long term too. Neo, Waves, even Komodo is a competitor. Just check back again this thread 1-2 years later and you will see how fast this crypto world change. |

I personally HODL ETH as I view it as the top blockchain in terms of what ICO's and projects use. If your opinion(s) out there, who do you think are their biggest competitors in terms of ICO's and blockchain projects?
I have heard that NEO is one of them but I'm curious to know who else could challenge them in that regard.
maybe some old coins like ripple, monero, but litecoin and doge i think it is not. ripple have support from bank and it can really affect for the stability of the coins |

There are more such projects, but does it make sense from the point of view of convenience and safety? I think that many can compete with Ethereum, but what they will offer and how it will look will only show time. Neo, Waves, Ada,nem,Eos,nebulas,Tezos |

I think the biggest and only competitor to Ethereum is NEO. NEO has strong support in China and operates no worse than Ethereum and in some aspects (code) surpasses Ethereum.

Biggest competitor of ethereum is indeed the chinese ethereum which is NEO,because these two platforms offers smartcontracts and d-apps or decentralized applications for the new projects,NEO has a more advance technology and its NEP5 tokens could replace the old ETH's ERC20 tokens,we are already seen it as early this year,a lot of new projects now are using NEO's platform over ethereum's platform because neo is more future proof.

it is difficult to answer this question. The crypto market is very moving. sometimes you are surprised. some coins are steadily rising and are getting stronger in the crypto market by making new agreements. I think the new competitors are ripple and trx for eth

NEO atm, and probably EOS and Cardano once those projects are more developed.
Mainnet is already out for Cardano -- e.g. a working product, and is still very actively continuing to improve upon it.
EOS will deploy their Mainnet sometime in June I think.

No rivals with no other coins? Don't make me laugh, Litcoin can be a rival to Ethereum. All Litecoin needs is the marketing. Litecoin does not provide ICOs, but is more similar to the other first-generation coins like Bitcoin or BCash, etc. Ethereum is considered the second-generation coins; while Neo and Cardano are considered the 3rd Generation coins. |

Yup, Neo competes with ETH but also XEM, EOS and ICX. Last two are new cryptocurrencies that can with active development become strong competitors

Besides NEO, I personally think Waves could be a worthy competitor after the smart contracts are implemented. Waves has a strong team and have been marketing it's project very well. The Waves DEX is also nice because it eliminates the fear of losing tokens on centralized exchanges if they get hacked.
Yeah, I agree. Waves can be an important competitor when it gets its smart contracts. It will get more ICOs and will get much more big and important than it is now. Also, I think stratis and NEM are worthy of being called ETH competitors too. |

Ethereum is wonderful project, but has couple of competitors. Among them NEO is the strongest and this is the one that can hurt Ethereum, in my opinion.

of course there are many who have the potential to become a competitor of ethereum. one of them yes indeed NEO has a great potential to be a competitor ethereum. no doubt this NEO coin has almost the same with ethereum. he can stand alone. and currently there are several ICO based on NEO. therefore NEO became the first candidate as a competitor of ethereum.
