AMD 7850 graphic card $130 for ~400 MH/s
USB Erupter (ASIC) $18 for ~333 MH/s
What do you think?

ASICs are only good for the people selling them. The current on the market have no ROI, the future will have no ROI once they start shipping

I think the 7850 is the only option with any hope of ROI. So I would take the GPU over the ASIC.

Charlie Kelly: I'm pleading the 5th. The Attorney: I would advise you do that. Charlie Kelly: I'll take that advice under cooperation, alright? Now, let's say you and I go toe-to-toe on bird law and see who comes out the victor? The Attorney: You know, I don't think I'm going to do anything close to that and I can clearly see you know nothing about the law. 19GpqFsNGP8jS941YYZZjmCSrHwvX3QjiC

Some ASICs are already shipping and available immediately.
You'll have to do your own ROI calculations depending on your own situation to determine if it's worth it to you.
"Standard" rigs are only useful for non SHA-256 coins, since all the ASIC chips in development/available today are for SHA-256 coins.

you'll never recover your money from all ASIC being shipped today. ASIC are only good for the people selling them. Think how many thousands of ASICMiner eruptors were sold at 2 BTC. Those people will never recover their money, but the people selling them are still laughing on their way to the bank. If you want to buy a ASIC to run as a hobby fine. If you're thinking in making money forget it. The only profitable (about $10 or $20 a month per Gig) are the GPU miners. You can buy cheap used ones from gamer's on craigslist (if you're in the US). Don't buy new or you'll never recover your money

+1 to GPU(scrypt) mining. Don't buy ASIC and NEVER preorder ASIC. There is guys who got their BFL with an year delay, so their only hope to make partitial ROI is to sell them...

I still don't get how a GPU miner at maybe $80 used for 400MH/s is better than a $18 ASIC miner that runs at 333 MH/s??
$200/GH vs. $54/GH
How do you justify the GPU being cheaper? Even if you resell the GPU, you would eat at least the $54/GH ASIC cost in depreciation. GPUs use a lot more power as well.
This is all assuming you're mining a SHA-256 coin.

because you're mining ALTs at 4 times++++ BTC profitability. Next BTC diff is 200 million and who knows what the next will be, perhaps 260 million. A USB Eruptor will give you 0.00007513 BTC per day. With a 400 Meg GPU you make .01 BTC per day. Get the point? ASIC are out of ALTs (so far)

If you have free electricity, you can try mining with a graphics card, but the probability of success will be quite low. You can still join a pool, but your returns are expected to diminish greatly over time. That is, of course, unless you have a unthinkable number of graphics cards that you picked up for free as well.

Yes, free electricity and free very expensive graphic cards, otherwise not worth the time.

ASIC are out of ALTs (so far) I disagree , im running my GPU and getting 210Mhash/s and the rewards are small , i run 2x asic miners @336.8 direct in the motherbaord and my rewards are much much higher , still rubbish of course but i cant wait to stop useing my GPU, and run some heavy mining gear when the price falls though the floor on the BFL systems , been watching ebay for 3 weeks now and they just keep getting cheaper. just my opinion guys
