This project looks promising, it looks like a better fork of Monero than some the others out there, such as SumoCoin which is struggling to get off the ground even with a large Community .

One of the devs will have to confirm, but it may be that only one instance of the wallet at a time may communicate with the network as a security feature. I don't know though. Try closing the one that works, and then opening the wallet on the other machine.
