It's not accessible. I'm wondering If this has something to do with Cobra's (co-owner of the site) proposal to change the POW algorithm that bitcoin currently use.

Why would a static website be inaccessible due to a change in the bitcoin algorithm though? I'm pretty sure bitcoin.org is just a site about information on bitcoin, nothing else. Correct me if I'm wrong though as I haven't visited it for a while.

You may want to check Twitter and Reddit, there is some new drama going on about his proposal. It's possible he took the site down himself (which is immature) or maybe taken by Jihan Wu which I doubt, because as you said, It's a static website. Let's wait and see.

Yikes. Didn't know. Thanks for the heads up. The next few weeks are definitely going to be very very interesting as this is probably going to create another diversity in the community.

It's all working again.

I don't have an idea on what's going on with c0bra's proposal.

Thanks! wait I'll take time on reading this one but the website is working again so any idea if there's a relation to it or it doesn't have?  Huh

In this market every person seems to follow his own agenda, and the proposal by Cobra seem to fit perfectly in that category. In order to take things to the next level, the easiest way to cause confusion is to ddos the site Cobra is managing and has direct access to. It would then look like he took it down or messed with it, while in reality it was done by someone else. I probably don't need to point people here at how easy it is to rent a ddos attack, and how cheap it is to keep it running for a few hours. I wouldn't worry much about this and especially not about the proposal....

This was my initial thought. I very much doubt that Cobra would take down Bitcoin.org intentionally to try and push his proposal through as this would of tarnished his reputation if found out to be true. AFAIK it was only down for a few hours at most, so either it was coincidental that it went down at the time of this drama, or it was indeed a ddos.
