Yes it was your mistake! You pointed your miner to a pool that was not setup correctly. Did the team make you do that? No, they didn’t. You are responsible for your own actions. It was not difficult to find a pool that supported the new algo as soon as it switched. Your are not owed anything because you made a mistake. You should accept the fact that you fucked up, instead of trying to blame others for your mistake.
