Is there android app already to scan chip?
This is an excellent idea. But as usual the best ideas get ignored in the first incarnation.

Also if crypto is not centrally controlled, the passports are?

Shit happens!
I did a mistake when I published the document signing certificates, the script that converted the certificate iso2 country code to the UBIC currency code was buggy.
For some DSC certificates it didn't returned the correct currency code, but 0.
Currency 0 is unassigned and therefor will not be displayed in the wallet balance and not receive any UBI.
About two hours earlier someone from Australia registered his/her passport and because of the bug is not receiving a UBI.

The good news is that there is a clean way to fix it and I will implement it ASAP.
The fix will unfortunately require a node upgrade.

It's fine, your node will just be stuck at the current block height.
The fix isn't out yet anyway.

I like your business!
Impeccably plan, very nice activity, sober vision.

As soon as more and more users are registered, people will loose the fear off using their passport to prove they are not sybils. Good plan, congrats to the founder

The fix is almost ready. Unfortunately it will revert ~500 blocks and require a manual node upgrade.

The fix is out.
In order to update your node regarding the previous statement delete old UBIC files:
Code:
/etc/init.d/ubic stop
sudo rm -rf /var/ubic
sudo rm -rf /usr/local/src/core

Then run the installation again:
Code:
cd /usr/local/src
sudo git clone https://github.com/UBIC-repo/core.git
sudo chmod 777 -R core
cd core
cmake CMakeLists.txt
make
sudo make install[/quote]

I would like to understand what makes the difference for you regarding those 61 pkd - members: https://www.icao.int/Security/FAL/PKD/Pages/ICAO-PKDParticipants.aspx
Is there some security issue that makes some of those PKDParticipants  infeasible for ubic?

I would like to understand what makes the difference for you regarding those 61 pkd - members: https://www.icao.int/Security/FAL/PKD/Pages/ICAO-PKDParticipants.aspx
Is there some security issue that makes some of those PKDParticipants  infeasible for ubic?

Here are the reasons why they are not all supported by UBIC:
 - The non-transferable proof of knowledge for RSA certificates requires a big enough RSA exponent, 65537 or more.
(example: Hong Kong uses 3 as RSA exponent)

- The document signing certificates have a too long signing period. This means that UBIC doesn't know when the passport was issued and therefor doesn't know when it will expire.
(example: Argentinia, Brazil: more than 2 years signing period)

- Some countries only publish their country signing certificates but UBIC needs the document signing certificates too.
(example: Spain, Belgium, Netherlands)

It will probably change in the next years. Using 3 as RSA exponent has been proven to be less secure than 65537 and the ICAO DOC9303 recommends document signing certificates with a signing period of less than 3 months. So the countries listed in the examples above are definitely not following the best practices.

number of participants did increase by 10 times within 6 month. If we keep up growing that fast every 6 month we would be 100.000.000 in three and a half years, simple statistics Wink
