I want to sell a ebook on my web site for Bitcoins. I don't want to use a third payment processor is there anyway I can do it myself? I don't know anything about programming so the easiest method is appreciated! FYI I already know you can use your wallets API but I know nothing about programming a API script. Is there some kind of pre made plugin I can use and I can just enter an API key?

Saying that you don't trust someone because of their behavior is completely valid.

You can use a combination of software:

Server:
wordpress + woocommerce + bitcoin payments for woocommerce

Your home/office computer:
Electrum

All free.

Obviously you will have to learn how to use all of these programs but they are fairly easy to get started with. All you have to do is enter your electrum Master Public Key into your woocommerce bitcoin payments page. It will then allow you to receive payments in bitcoin.

Doesn't  Bitpay offer a free service to use their API just to collect/forward BTC instead of converting to fiat?

Bitpay charges 1%. And he'll still need most the software that I listed. Probably the only thing that will change is that he'll use the bitpay woocommerce plugin instead.

It's .99% fee to convert it to fiat and withdraw to a bank account. It's free for just a deposit address
