Does this miner require the router at all for windows? The only thing stopping me from buying this for hobby mining is the fact that it requires this MR-3020 router, but if it can work with Windows WITHOUT this said router, I will buy it.

It works without the router, it's just so much easyer using the TpLink. It realy makes the miners plug&play devies.

And you will struggle running HEX16A on windows since you can not use cgminer or bfgminer. The only available is HEXMINER.
Or use virtual pc to run linux then compile cgminer with patch from technobit.

Honestly I bought this device(used/second hand) to mine solo Bitcoin. No point in mining in a pool for less than $0.5 in profit. Yes, I know diff is 4 billion and going even higher bla bla, I've been around since 2011 when Bitcoin was $3, I know the probability of finding a block is zero with this device, but I still want to do it.

Here's a little bit you guys probably didn't know. HEXMiner is written in C#, grab any decompiler and you can tweak the source code if you have any C# knowledge.

My Hex16a1's are not realy happy with the latest firmware 0_3_0 for TpLink mr3020, I have 4 on 1 router and within 30 min 3 of them drop out every time.
Should I downgrade back to previous version, or is there another way to get them stable on the current version?

There is other issue USB hub or power
The latest fw is 3_1 btv

I upgraded to 3.1, Same problem. I'm using the same PSU (Corsair 1000W) and powered usb-hub (Belkin 4 port) as I did before and I never had this problem...

oh... I was thinking you are talking  abut coincraft my bad dude Wink
Yes this happens with latest fw they come to zombies and recovering fast
It should not affect your hash rate for sure. If you are not happy to have them come and go just downgrade

I just added a coincraft, that one is working great.
It would help if slush pool would solve a block, so I can see the more or less right statistics.
In the API-log of the mr3020 are a lot of miners not enabled and status sick, so many that they are not all displayed.
I think I Will downgrade for the one mr 3020 with only Hex16A1's connected.

Thanks for your fast reply Ioshia

alright thanks for the info, was just looking at other options i might need.

I am trying to run my hex16a2 on my windows 8 Desktop PC with the newest hexminer software and miner_proxy with usb drivers. Every time i press start on the mining the console will show it is connection then it fails and says the driver need to be up dated even though i have the most recent updates.

Is there a cgminer compiled to run on windows and support the hex boards? this would be very handy

Buy a tplink dude and forget
I can not give much help with windows
but there is one look at 2good topic.
It is a mess with cgminer and windows zdiag drivers and so on...
tplink will pay the electricity for a month and it is plug and play Cheesy
