It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.
Advertised sites are not endorsed by the Bitcoin Forum. They may be unsafe, untrustworthy, or illegal in your jurisdiction.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5049114.0    It's amazing how this forum actually supports and sustains scammers and scamming.

This has been brought up on numerous occasions, but it's not that the forum supports scammers; it's just that there isn't a viable solution to nip their actions in the bud without becoming a censored dictatorship.

At the end of the day, the users who actually fall for these "too good to be true" deals are the ones who haven't done enough due diligence or research before purchasing the products, and they're ultimately the ones at fault.

I've said it here before, and I will say it again: I support the idea of not allowing sales threads to be self moderated or locked, and really wish a new standard will be implemented. Perhaps only allowing self moderated and locked threads by Jr. Member ranks and above, as long as they do not have any negative feedback from DT1/2 members.

It sucks that this continues to be a problem, but I really don't see the admins taking any actions against this. Just keep doing what you're doing @sandy-is-fine; you're fighting the good fight!

Yea, I understand but a couple of these scumbags (Ps3o aka JAAC Skelder and 20 others) and YoutubeTV with like 30 alts have been around here for years and are so blatant they should be banned even though they will still come back again with a new alt.   A dictatorship isn't needed just a little common sense to push the delete button.

The forum can't censorship. It would be difficult to draw a line.
But it can certainly do something, like what you mention here plus showing some kind of trust to non registered users. It has been suggested several times and always ignored. Even if it's mainly the scammed users' fault, anything possible should be done to reduce it. Besides the need to help those users, this just increases the bad reputation of bitcoin that links it with illegal activities.

Censorship is not defined as NOT stopping illegal activity (THEFT).  Censorship is the suppression of free expression but not the supression of theft just like the first amendment allows "free speech" but precludes yelling fire in a crowded theater when there is none.  Do cops "censor" thieves when they arrest them for illegal activities ?  This part of the forum condones illegal activity by not stopping the obvious thieves.  Sure, sometimes there is a grey area but many times it's quite obvious especially in the cases of PS3o and YoutubeTV.  There should be no question about them and they should be disposed of like the cockroaches they are.

Censorship can be argued when removing posts before a scam is made, or without absolute proof, even if it's obviously a scam, as "obviously" can be subjective.
But we agree the forum must do something about this.

You keep asking for loans with invalid collateral (1, 2) and have posted absolutely nothing useful, so no, it won't be removed.

There are lots of ways but the owners of this forum seem to condone and encourage them by doing nothing so it will never slow down.  This forum is known on other sites as the "place to scam" and get away with it so they seem to gather here like a swarm of cockroaches.

Thankyou

Autobuy eliminates the use of escrow so those who use it (especially newbies) are very often seen as scammers. While it may not ALWAYS be the case the few honest people suffer for the dishonesty of the majority.

Another obvious scammer.  Same "handwriting" as ZEWROX with identical posts.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5060179.0

LOL just going to post it myself. Apparently he did not take kindly to be red repped. Poor baby. But he apparently has a hard-on for Harambe, poor ape.

Watch out for this thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5063008.0

I asked him if we could use escrow to build some trust, or if he could go first and let me check if product worked.

There was a post last week in Digital Goods that another account of this same person (Skpye: xychrizzy) ripped off a user for multiple Microsoft licenses. Same old shit, new account, and yes they should be red repped, but that other post has more than likely been removed from this forum. Sandy may remember as they commented to the user that their post would be gone according to forum rules and to post a Scam Accusation (which I haven't seen done).

Edit: Here is one of the other posts that person had made about this user (sandy also replied here but just that trust should have been checked):
