Hello everyone!
I have been looking around and support for Mac does not seem to be on par with mining support for Windows...so I was wondering, what is the best way to mine on Mac OS X?
When I say 'what is the best way' I mean:
- What is the best hardware to use
- What is the best software to use
- How easy is it to start mining? Are any adjustments to the computer required?
To make this a little easier, My computer statistics are below:
Operating System: Mac OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.4
Processor: 3.1 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory/RAM: 16GB 1600 MHz DDR3 (two 8GB)
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 512 MB
Hard drive (if that matters when it comes to mining): 1.12TB Fusion Drive
The only hardware upgradeable (by researching on google) is the Memory/RAM, and I have also noticed nVidia graphic cards do not do that well when it comes to mining compared to other cards, so external hardware compatible with Mac OS X would be great if you know of any!
I really want to get started with mining even though it seems to late (I personally think it isn't)
If you want to really mine I would recommend purchasing a separate asic or fpga device (depending on if you care about roi) then dual boot linux or get VMware fusion (that is what I do) and install Ubuntu on that. No point in mining with your gpu. Just a waist of money and puts your pc at risk.
