(...)
That's all good btc_uzr, thanks for including them. People need to be aware of the major dissatisfaction of KNC customers about the way things have been handled for the past 2 weeks and how KNC have responded (or rather, in many cases, not responded).

P.S. Don't forget the QA issues with the heatsinks I mentioned, that's something important people need to be aware of.

Thanks

It was already present, named as:
Code:
Check your devices before starting them first time
http://forum.kncminer.com/forum/main-category/hardware/8377-it-should-be-removed-before-the-cooler-is-installed-this-is-a-instalation-quality-check-failure

have renamed it to
'QA partially failed, check your miners!'

edit: Thanks again for contribution Smiley

Avenger should speak for himself...  KNC has always responded for me and has worked through any issues.  I'm still having some issues with my orders but would give KNC great rating.  They pulled off a delivery of a fantastic unit and stayed honest.

I agree, my miner was shipped a week late (not a huge slip on such a large and long project).  It worked right out of the box with better performance than the original claim (not quite as good as the final 550GH/s) and ten days later it's working much better at the full 550GH/s.  Customer service has also been excellent, answering my emails much faster than most other companies in different industries.

HOWEVER
Other people have had their deliveries delayed by more than mine and miners running significantly under-spec.  This was an inevitable risk when bringing a cutting edge product to market.  There was no way for them to test it adequately to iron out bugs in the general design on weed out single dud machines.

I think that both KnC and customers were too excited and too willing to believe the hype.  KnC have done an excellent job, just not as excellent as they promised.

With any product you will have some units that have problems. Mine has no issues and I am averaging 545 GHs. Delivered on the 17th which is more than I can say for my BFL jalapeno order. I order it 2 months earlier and I still don't have it. KNC didn't pull a Avalon and mine with customer hardware. They built them then shipped. There were many that called KNC a scam or their product vaporware. But in the end they delivered a product. So no problems with KNC.

+1 Indeed.

Anyway,  I'd have prefered posting some news instead of a disscussion.

The biggest annoyance is hosting. We got customers that paid mid August getting their product shipped while those who paid in mid July for Hosting aren't getting squat yet. WHAT'S WRONG WITH HOSTING! Day 1 & 2 hosting customers are fine, but everyone else - what are they doing - mining with them?

Yeah this really sucks for the guys that bought into the hosting plans they offered.  They should have just worried about hosting their own shit and shipped boxes to all customers.

I've just created a kncminer branch on my github and have imported their most current code and built my first binary for this. It is not a full firmware and the only thing users may note is the hashrate won't lie with this one, as it won't count hardware errors as hashrate. Also my hardware error count is significantly lower with this on the Saturn dev machine I was sent.

Here's a direct link to the binary:
http://ck.kolivas.org/apps/cgminer/kncminer/cgminer

You'll have to ssh into the kncminer and copy and use that file directly. Hopefully the libraries all match between my dev environment and the default kncminer operating system which means the binary should just work if you run it like on any other OS.

btw: feel free to support his work by a little donation  Wink

The problem is the longer they take to decide will not have any bearing on what the cost is when they finally do decide.

I have a Saturn, if I can't buy 2 more modules at a reasonable price soon, then KNC is not an option for me anymore
