Compare rates on different exchanges & swap.

Few days ago I was interacting with a Decentralized Exchange developer who I believe is competent. He claimed his Decentralized Exchange will be mobile compatible. I wanted to understand why his own Dex is different.  He said they will avoid Dex bloatware. He seems to suggest that Bloatwares are responsible for the incompatibility.

Here is his exact words:

"it s one of the reasons we use a chain with self removing temporary entries for facilitating the transactions. No need for data bloat on portable devices"

Is this a fact? or is it even possible? If yes, why don't other Dex try it out.

I think his message
Quote
"it s one of the reasons we use a chain with self removing temporary entries for facilitating the transactions. No need for data bloat on portable devices"
contains two linked components, depending on each other:

1.) regular blockchain is gigabytes, and mobiles can't store gigabytes
2.) with a different design (by removing the necessity to store gigabytes) a DEX on mobiles is possible

Currently it is unclear, how this can be achieved. An underlying assumption seems to be, that it must work with a cryptographical setup. There are two concurrent concepts in the crypto world: blockchains and DAGs. Both (should) make sure, that a malicious actor is not "incentivized" to play foul. The blockchain or the DAG is also used to proof, that a certain transaction happened. And both require lots of data...
Comes SPV wallets or similiar: they work on mobiles as well, but they are connected to servers, that must be trusted. I can imagine, that he is working on a similiar concept for a DEX.

The idea looks very interesting, and if there is a new logic/algorythm, which avoids the usage of gigabytes, we are all highly interested.
Why don't you invite your friend to come into the forum, and spread some of his ideas with us?

The first problem is that a DeX is actually an unsolved problem. There are no, true, trustless, decentralised exchanges in existance, because blockchains cannot support anything more than their own tokens, and there is no standard atomic-swap protocol.

How can we trust a decentralized chain with "self removing temporary entries"?
Exchanges were centralized due to its own nature. A chain that does "that" can't be possible.

Full nodes will always be required for a decentralized chain, it will bloat twice as much as a regular blockchain due to thousands of transactions will happen in an exchange.
The difficulty can be throttled to generate blocks faster but this will speed up the full node size increase rate.
It can be slowed down but it will result in stuck transactions.
Remove the entries? How can this be called decentralized in the first place?

Can that DeX manage to find a way around or an alternative "decentralized" way?

I suspect you are right and I have looked at creating a truly decentralised node discovery based on a billion user and using
the public key of nodes to sub-domain the name server nodes but it basically comes down to 65535 encrypted dat files
but even this won't scale because the files can still become too big and slow to load.

Trying to keep  sub-domain servers in sync with each other will generate a huge amount of network chatter
so yes it's possible to scale to 50 million accounts using my code but it won't be close to real time without big centralized
servers and without a data center the size of Googles using my approach it could never cope with a billion users.

Throw in that most of the nodes won't have open firewall ports and they are only accessible via relay nodes and you start
to see the size of the problem.

It's possible. Modern mobile devices are powerful enough to work with decentralized applications

100% true, mobile devices nowadays are enough for these kind of things!
