I am 100% confident that this will surely happen. You can see bitcoin dominance which shows people are again showing faith in bitcoin. You can follow google trends and you will see high number of bitcoin lovers which makes if very easy for bitcoin to cross 50000$ this year.

Tom Lee has always been bullish on bitcoin, but he always gives some fair predictions.

And it's hard not to be bullish right now. After the massive correction in January, we've seen the BTC price slowly going up. Same goes with the BTC dominance meaning that either there's more capital entering the bitcoin ecosystem as investors see more benefits in the btc market long-term than the altcoin market, or the money from altcoins is going back to bitcoin after everyone started throwing money at the altcoin market a couple of months ago.

Either way, if the next bull run begins this month or the next month, then just like Tom says, I could also see the Bitcoin price around 20k or more in mid-2018.

This is still a speculation , conclusion, theory , opinion and most probably a possibilty, even if president of America told that bitcoin will hit $25000 next month if the demand would not rise as expected nothing will happen. Its not the famous speculator or foreteller that will decide if bitcoin will reach a certain spot but Us, the consumer, user and investors.

What is his basis for saying so? Anyone can easily say this. Even I can say so simply that the price of bitcoin would double by mid-2018. Anyone has the freedom to speculate because no one can tell 100% accurately what would be the price of bitcoin in the future. There may be some indicators and we can make predictions from it but there may be unforeseen factors which would affect the price in the future. It's good for someone to make a statement as it would spread positivity however there is no guarantee that it would actually happen.
