According to my Activity and posts my rank should be Full Member by now but it is still Member. I know that Merit system is also implemented now but it will make almost impossible for me and thousands like me to advance to next rank. I hope there will some options for me and many members like me.

The best way is to take back this merit system and simply democratize the forum another way is to start a poll where members can vote in favor or against this system and the results should be implemented.

I think it'd have made more sense to give everyone the merit of the next user rank just as a starter to the merit system. It seems like it'll be extremely difficult for a lot of people to rank up now. We could probably do with more merit sources (although I don't think there is an actual number of merit sources - unless someone knows otherwise).

Make worthwhile posts that bring about quality discussion. Pretty solid option.

I'm not obsessed with rank here, and that has been true from the beginning.   I realize it's hard to advance now, but that perquisite was spoiled by the hundreds of idiots who use bitcointalk as a means to spam as a full-time job.  

If you joined this forum to make money in campaigns that base their pay rates on rank, you're hit and I have absolutely zero sympathy for you.  Those are the kinds of members that I hope will just abandon their bitcointalk dreams of steady "work" and go out and seek a real job that benefits not just them but society as a whole.  

Yes, I'm in a campaign, but I'm not here for just that.  For me it's just a bonus for doing something I'd be doing anyway.

For you to rank up,  your activity and merit must rhyme. Activity is predictable but merit is not. We just have to find a way of earning merits because I don't think the system will be changed from what it is now.

For you to rank up,  your activity and merit must rhyme. Activity is predictable but merit is not. We just have to find a way of earning merits because I don't think the system will be changed from what it is now.

That's true, Merit points will be awarded only for high quality posts, so even if you have a high potential (I mean a lot of activities) and all of them are shit posts, you will not be eligible to rank up. I bet that there are a lot of people posts everyday from the first day of the new system and they didn't get any single points of merit system because of the low quality posts.

Those things that you are talking about will never happen. Merit system is permanent and it is not going to be changed even a little in nearest time. I understand you and all of those who need tons of sMerits to raise up. You have to concentrate on quality posting. There are high rank users who give merits for good posts, I have seen their threads with such suggestion several times already and I guess it is going to be a new tend here on the forum. So, comment wise and wide for some time and after apply for an attention of such user, that way seem to me as the only option in your case.

With the merit system at work right this moment, it will take ages for an individual to achieve a new rank system.  What I will suggest to everyone is this. Forget about the merit stuff for a while, go about your daily activities here like before, post constructively and things will be fine.

i understand what you mean but i honestly think right now, the member rank is just used for campaigns. (im not different in this sense, but i only do it for the projects i feel are worth)
Many new people can come and get involved.. some maybe more knowledgeable than legendary ranked member here.
If what you say is sound and promotes good discussion then what does a rank on a forum matter.

How about we all suggest theymos to make these changes:
- change back (remove) the merit requirement for ranking up
- then remove abilities to add images, avatar, and signature from rank level
- and add those abilities to appropriate merit level
- so rank only works for posting wait_time and sending pm limit
and guess what would happen?
there will be an uproar and many will start screaming (again) the same thing but different approach

lets just be frank! the idea behind merit is for stopping massive accounts farmer which solely purpose is to spam and gain higher rank for joining signature campaign and then continuing their spam fiesta to get maximum weekly payment.

Reaching Legendary takes over two years. Earning 1,000 merits within that time shouldn't be that hard to do. If you are active in the forums, and contributing to active topics via informational posts and great content, this shouldn't be that big of a problem. It may take you longer to earn the required merit than the required activity time to hit Legendary status, but remember... It's "Legendary". I quite like that it's going to be more difficult to obtain than the previous ranks.

It's not like you can become a Legendary member overnight, regardless of merit reqs or not.

I think he's missing the point of democracy... The merit system IS a democracy. It's based on users giving merit for posts that THEY deem meritorious. It's not like the staff of the forums are the ones who are choosing who gets merit and who doesn't... The merit system is as democratic as you can get lol

You have two ways to earning merit. First and recommended to write constructive post and improve discussion and second way is to try deceive merit system and upgrade your rank buying merit or begging for them.

These people don't really care about making any meaningful contributions, hence why the merit system is needed. They got used to lazily making their one line shitposts day after day just to breeze through the ranks and get paid by crapcoin campaigns in the process.

This is the point that people are missing but for those people who have dozens of accounts shitposting their way through ranks now isn't so easy and that's what most people are annoyed about. No more easy ticket to the rank of their desire just by logging on once a fortnight to splurge some half-assed post out. Now they have to put some effort in and that's why they feel so robbed.

I think you are a self-centered piece of NUT pretending that you actually care about others. It's pretty clear that you are begging to rank up for higher rates which I think won't happen until you accept the essence of the new system.
If you can't give a good conversation and information that would actually benefit the forum, why would you expect something from it ? I think with you complaining, you don't even deserve what you are gaining today as a member.
Help the forum, then I guess it is reasonable for you to gain more. If that is your only goal.
