My Senior Member account bobq has been hacked:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1096372

I have in my mailbox the email from Bitcointalk which warns me that my email has been changed, but I didn't see it until it was too late.
Could some trusted member please red-trust bobq until I manage to get it back? I have a number of ways in which I can prove it belongs to me, but I'd rather do it though PM, to avoid giving infos to the hacker. I am even a team member of a quite well known altcoin.
It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

Read and follow the easy to find sticky in Meta.

When the subject of buying BTC with Paypal comes up, I often remember this:

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

If you can provide a signed address which was posted by that account publicly I'm sure a DefaultTrust member would be willing to help, contact one via personal message if you want to keep it confidential for what ever reason.

You being part of a altcoin team isn't going to be sufficient evidence though.

I am waiting to become Jr Member (hopefully in one hour or less) so that I can send PMs. I have read the sticky messages, but I also know that as a Newbie as a default you cannot send PMs to higher ranking.

Does it really a necessary that you are in urgent basis to be a Jr. Member so sudden? I guess you need a 10 merits to achieve it but I think it is a form of begging a merit. Buy a Copper Member and it solves your problem if it's just sending a pm to high ranking accounts.

Better refer to this pinned message https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=497545.0 here on Meta thread Quaglia.

I'd imagine Cyrus and Theymos have that option turned off so you can PM them. If not, I'd be happy to pass along the message if its in the format requested for, others have already directed you towards the thread explaining the required format and information.

*edit* Eh, I'll quote it here for good measure

If you use any sort of Google email service, then the password recovery email will go to your spam folder.

If you want us to recover a hacked/lost account, you need to prove that you own it. Typically, the only acceptable method of proving ownership is by signing a message (including current date and desired new email address) using a Bitcoin address or PGP key associated with the account. A Bitcoin address or PGP key is associated with the account only if the account posted the key/address, sent it in a PM, or if it is still listed in the account's profile.

I very rarely recover accounts if you can't prove ownership as described above. There are alternative ways of proving ownership, but they take too much time. If I point you to this thread, you can't prove ownership properly, and then I ignore your future PMs, this means that I'm not going to recover your account. Create a new one.

Send one PM to Cyrus. If Cyrus doesn't respond after two weeks, you can try sending a PM to me instead. When sending a PM, use a template like this:

Quote
-----BEGIN BITCOIN SIGNED MESSAGE-----
My account <account> has been hacked/lost. Please reset the email to <email>. The current date is <date>.
-----BEGIN SIGNATURE-----
<insert address here>
<insert signature here>
-----END BITCOIN SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Here is the unedited post where I posted that address: ...
OR
I sent that address to someone in a PM with PM ID#...

I am thanking everybody for their prompt reply trying to help me. As I thought I am now Jr Member (I was missing just one post) which makes it easier to sent PMs - BTW you don't need Merits from Newbie to Junior.
So now I'm looking forward to send the PMs.

I am now trying to find some posts which contains some BTC addresses of mine, but didn't yet. The hacker may have deleted something. But at least I have found a few of altcoin addresses, this for example if BTX:

I'm still in the process of recovering my account but that's very reassuring to hear that accounts are getting recovered. Thanks
