I'm sorry to say that after quite a bit of consideration I am bowing out as community leader for PXC.

Last week I found out that Mike has sold the pre-mine. That upset me so much that I was literally sick for two days. Couldn't sleep at night. Epic betrayel, after months of him swearing that he would never sell the premine, and me defending him at every turn.
I'm done with Phenixcoin and to be honest, the whole cryptoscene has left a bad taste in my mouth and a vaccuum in my savings account.

I took a break from the forums for a while and now I'm back to try and clean up some of the mess left by Mike and John. Check out https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=299765.0

Joerii, sad to see you go. There is little I can do about it, at least I can tell people the real story behind the PXC pre-mine.

Mike had mined about 1 million PXC (~20K blocks) before the currency was released to the public. These coins were the community property, and they were supposed to be used for bounties, prizes, give-aways, etc. In a matter of fact, only a small part of them was used for this purpose as none of the PXC projects ever reached production level. Most of these coins (816K) were accumulated in his wallet at Pbg8ZUXw84QC575GRDLJyMYFmm35Pyn9i2 address. They were supposed to be kept there, but 410K went to Puk5qvEyvt85rGQwuH4R4TjhwrRPSdnJwm between 31-May and 8-Jul, and 318K to PoEicfiNj1mQvLgaT27GSSMPUDBTzsNS16 between 11-Jul and 21-Jul. Both of them are Cryptsy addresses. PXC had been listed there on 24-May, but Mike asked Vern to make a one week delay, so the actual trading took place on 31-May. So, he sold it all before people realised the UNOCS Bridge and other projects he was supposed to work on were a complete failure. He knew it better than anyone else.

Now you all know what a piece of shit Mike Burns is.

P.S. Our new web site, Phoenixcoin.org, is online.

EDIT: Let the following be here as well. Mike sold most of his BTC redeemed from the pre-mine dump to USD. 157ukbZ9d3CfjqKjjUF3aSHfrdpVJEtpHr is his address and this is his #bitcoin-otc trust profile. Funny thing, he was scammed for 8.5 BTC there while sending first. I'm quoting his Bitcoin-OTC IRC when he was complaining of being ripped off and bragging of selling the pre-mine (http://bitcoinstats.com/irc/bitcoin-otc/logs/2013/07/17):

I wish you'd stay, lord knows we need solid guys and gals with integrity on this scene to make it where we all need to go.. Unfortunate indeed. GL bro

Thanks man. Yeah we need people with integrity. And to make any coin work we need something of value to add. Something usefull. Yet another coin without any added utility for the general public is a waste of time and total speculation.

I joined the PhenixCoin team because I thought it was really going to be the next step in cryptocurrency. Now it turns out our lead coder was in it purely for his own financial gain and didn't care at all about the people investing in it. Stealing from them via the premine. Sickening.

Now without any plans of adding value, I don't see a future for Phenixcoin, sorry to say. The only thing you guys have going for you is Ghostlander's support. A very intelligent an capable guy. Maybe there's still hope if you find people who can innovate for PXC. But why would they innovate for PXC instead of for a coin with a better reputation ?

Any coin is a tool for people to use. If the tool functions poorly or broken simply, it doesn't matter if you have any ambitious plans of use for it.

Anyone feel generous enough to reimburse me for the Coins-E debacle?  I lost 9980 PXC because of their incompetence  Undecided

In theory, the coins are not lost. If I understand the situation right, Coins-E failed to update their PXC daemon before the last hard fork and sent your coins while on the wrong block chain. Once they upgraded the daemon and switched to the correct block chain, the transaction disappeared and the coins re-appeared in their wallet. If they didn't repeat the transaction or credit the coins back to your balance, it was a scam. Use Cryptsy instead.

Yes, its a scam alright. I bought 12k PXCs at almost 0.25 BTC and Coins-E stole it. They actually mailed me saying to check my wallet again Roll Eyes https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=294224.0

Anybody feeling generous please donate a bit.

Phoenixcoin New Specification for v0.6.5.0
(hard fork at block #154000)

total coin supply: 98 million (before: 168 million advertised)

block target: 90 seconds (before: 45 seconds)
block reward: 50 PXC (before: 25 PXC)
block reward halved: every 1000K blocks (before: every 1680K blocks)

retarget: every 20 blocks (before: every 126 blocks)
max. difficulty change: 2% (before: 9%)
averaging window: combined 100 + 500 blocks 0.25 damped (before: 126 blocks)

future time stamp limit: 30 minutes (before: 2 hours)
past time stamp limit: median of 19 blocks (before: median of 11 blocks)

The averaging algorithm is under simulations now and may be tuned up a little, but everything else is very much final. The current coin generation rate is unchanged. The hard fork is due in about 40K blocks from this moment which is more than enough to complete everything planned in time with no surprises. Beta builds will be released for testing later. More technical details on the hard fork are in this or this thread.

Hello everybody Smiley

I am happy to introduce altdice to the PXC community
It's a dice game pretty much like the early version of Satoshi Dice

http://pxc.altdice.net

To play, send any amount between min bet and max bet to the address of your choice.
A number between 0 and 65535 will be selected, if this number is below the number of the game, then you win !
Your winnings are your bet amount * the Prize Multiplier.

The game is almost instant. 98% expected payout. 2% edge house.
Play max bet and win over 200 PXC!

Have a try :-)
Send 1 PXC to PuWgjtywJLZPuQ44JA98fharPwDgUfL1Kg => You have 85% chance to win this game. It pays out 1.153 your bet amount.

I wish you a lot of fun on Altdice.net !

Phoenixcoin v0.6.5.0 has been released for beta testing. The source code is at GitHub (note the new repository name). You can compile it yourself or wait until I compile and upload the beta binaries for Windows tomorrow. You can also join the testnet to try the new protocol settings. This beta is fully functional and can be used on the current livenet. If no bugs show up this weekend, the official release takes place on Monday. Please upgrade to v0.6.5.0 as any previous version will not be functional after the hard fork at block #154000 which is expected in 1 week.

The Windows and Linux (amd64) v0.6.5.0 binaries are now available. Let me know if there are any issues.

Code:
MD5: a2b837f0fd170dacdac162cc0bdb6bd4  phoenixcoin-win-0.6.5.0.zip
MD5: 10283311b34faa2663c85a3aabeb9aed  phoenixcoin-lin-amd64-0.6.5.0.tar.gz

Be sure to check the README.txt or at least the following:

Quote
*** Upgrade Instuctions from Phoenixcoin v0.6.4.12 and earlier (Windows) ***

If you upgrade from a 0.6.4.x version of Phoenixcoin, the first news you need to
know is the default location of directory with block chain and peer data bases,
your wallet and configuration file has changed. v0.6.4.x clients have stored all
this data in a "Phenixcoin" subdirectory located in a hidden system path:

(Windows 2000, XP, 2003) C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\
(Windows Vista, 7, 8 ) C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\

It was supposed to provide some protection against accidental wallet deletion by
an inexperienced user as many people didn't know where to find it. On the other
hand, it appeared to be a security breach as many wallet stealing trojans and
remote access scripts knew where to look for user data. It was advised to enable
wallet encryption usually, though there was also an option to move the whole
subdirectory elsewhere and report the full path to the client or daemon using
-datadir run time parameter which was rather inconvenient.

So, the default subdirectory is now called "data" and it's located in the same
directory where you keep the Qt GUI client and daemon, phoenixcoin-qt.exe and
phoenixcoind.exe. The whole distribution can be placed on a hard disk, USB flash
stick, network drive or wherever else. You can use the -datadir parameter still
if you need to.

Please move the contents of "Phenixcoin" subdirectory to the "data" subdirectory
BEFORE you start a v0.6.5.x client or daemon. If there is phenixcoin.conf, rename
it to phoenixcoin.conf and you're good to go.

Happy hard fork everyone! We are rolling very well so far.

The difficulty is rising due to increase in block target and block reward. Hope you have made some easy PXC today.

Advanced checkpointing also works fine. The depth is set to 1, so any block with at least 1 confirmation cannot be orphaned. In general, the number of natural orphans has decreased dramatically after the hard fork.

Synced 5000 blocks in 30 seconds. Thank you Ghostlander for keeping this coin alive!

Please vote for PXC to CoinPayments, the largest altcoin payment processor: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=360706

There is a bit of irony though. CoinPayments was supposed to be a direct competitor to the UNOCS Bridge which never happened thanks to the previous developer. I'm more comfortable with supporting CoinPayments rather than creating my own payment processor and competing with them.
