All beginners - Be careful of this new Scam method

Hi Everybody,

There is a new scam method that is getting too popular and many people got fooled so far.

The general idea is this:

1. The scammer opens a fake profile (on Twitter, Facebook etc') of a known celeb like Elon Musk or Ethereum's founder Vitalik Buterin.
2. Then they post an offer that is too good to be true. Something like: "Send me 0.5 ETH and I will send you 5 ETH in return".
3. Some people get fooled and send their coins while the scammer enjoys the anonymity of the blockchain and the fact that the transactions are irreversible.

These fraudsters are making a bad name for Crypto and if less people will get scammed this will eventually stop.

That's the old method and since crypto is all about personal responsibility of safety, one should do his own research before taking any decision even if the offer is posted in the place of Google doodle. If someone is not sure about the investment then he should not go with it before acquiring complete details of the same. I have seen people losing money in the greed of getting anything like 5x returns.

Plus anything that is "Too good to be true" are mostly scams, i prefer not participating in those. I mean everything in this world (crypto and real) works that way, ain't it too obvious?

Untill you see person such as John McAfee on twitter with his comments like this you might believe in it maybe! - Jokes a side but let's be hoenst crypto is great place for scammers as it is easier for them to move. Many newbies hear you know btc is hiting new ATH, some people min it and earn a living and they assume it is an easy money scheme, so I don't find it hard to believe that some of them fall for these primitive scams as they are.

Scammer's don't stop, they just change their methods meanwhile, people who are easy to trick and doesn't bother searching (or thinking??) will always exist so stopping this is nothing but a dream.

Sometimes the best way of learning is to learn from your mistakes, to actually experience it so let's just let them learn the hard way I mean there's already a lot of articles out there all they need is to "search" and in fact I often see this in twitter and a lot of people are actually replying that "it is a scam"

This is NOT a scam targeting newbies, more of a scam targeting people who are as thick as pig s**t...

There's this quote from Bojack Horseman that says: "When you look at someone through rose-colored glasses, all the red flags just look like flags." Someone, in this case, are the scammers, and the glasses are greed. The people who fall for these kinds of scams are naive for sure, but I'd say greed still plays the bigger part; it can override reasoning and make people do stupid shit. Either way, it's good that Twitter is at least trying to take action.

  I love that you have quoted a humanoid cartoon horse, brilliant... but yeh you're/the horse is right. I guess everyone is different though, I've just always lived by the rule if something looks too good to be true, it usually is 99.99999999% of the time.

True. The best teacher for all of us, is our MISTAKES. If we dont got a mistakes then will never learnt from it. Thru our experiences we become strong, we gain knowledge which we can use for our next step of our daily journey.
Must keep on more research. Must keep on asking and must keep on thinking 3x before making any moves, most if theres a money or big profits involve. Hope this can help.

You're right, official Facebook/Twitter profiles of famous people have blue mark on their profile. So, it's easy to see which profiles are fake and which are real. These scammers are searching for naive idiots and sadly, it looks that more than enough people are falling into their trap. Few weeks ago I saw scammers made fake Binance Twitter profile where they promised to double ETH deposits if people will send money to scammers ETH address. Well, it looks that some people learn only when they loose their money.

It oftentimes help to be skeptic, especially now a days. If the offer is too good to be true, then think twice. I am a skeptic person, I entered bitcoin because I see it worked with my daughter. No matter how many enticing advertisement I see online, we have to be smart enough before we jump into anything and not ending losing everything.
