You basically answered your question. Bumping threads can be done once per 24 hrs as stated #13 of the rules of the forum (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=703657.0); As for old bumps, it should be deleted as per rule #21.

Try using the search button, if results are shitty; just open another tab and search for the things you want to search for then add "bitcointalk" after it. Go on and try it.

it says that you can bump on your thread at least 5 times but more than that is too much, but you can reply to every question placed under your thread if they want some clarification, I saw a lot doing that, sometime their post become a debate.
