Hi
So I am mining BTC with some hardware and thought it might be nice to set my cpu to mine novacoin.

I have tried pooler cpuminer . I typed in the code and got the miner to connect to the pool and after a while it starts saying thread 1:112 hashes, 0.00khash/s, thread 4:89 hashes, 0.00 khash/s, stuff like that.

The pool is saying I have no accepted shares and my speed is 0. Is this thing working but so slow it is not worth electricity, or something else.

Is it no longer practical to even mine nova coins in pools with cpu? Are there any settings I can tweak to get more hashes/sec? Thanks

not really worth it im afraid unless electric is free.... all the GPU miners from bitcoin and other sha256 coins have gone with ASICS or FPGAs meaning there GPUs where less than useless as a result some have tried to sell there GPUs but foind only people who want them for gaming will pay and good price and once a GPU has mined for a few months its usless for gaming so they couldnt sell them and couldnt mine Bitcoins and such with them so the only option left was alt coins like litecoin novacoin, fethercoin or "scryptcoins" so scrypt mining is being done by bitcoin miners who havnt botherd selling ther GPUs

Difficulty is floating in 340 - 370 values range for a long time. One of the most powerful CPUs (Sandy Bridge-E @ 4.7 GHz) has approximately 250 days avg. block generation time.

So, I guess that there is no sense in CPU mining... Except for mining just for fun, using PPS pool like https://hynodeva.com/.

Use GPU to mine novacoin, save CPU for PrimeCoin

Try CoinChoose to pick the most profitable coin. Good luck!

Mine primecoin instead with CPU, I believe its the most profitable for CPU currently.
