Hello,

I just found my instawallet url, which was lost for over 5 years. Is there still a way to file a claim and get my BTC back?

I tried to send this as a PM to User Boussac. But as a newbie I am blocked.

thanks

Have you read this thread[1]? I'm not sure if he would refund your coins after 5 years, but it's worth a try.

Anyways, I PM'ed Boussac and linked him to this thread so he can help you. Good luck!

Boussac says that Instawallet were compromised and funds were most likely stolen so he had to close it completely.
Not sure if he's going to do a refund in 5 years, especially after the wallet itself were compromised.
But, if your amount are not much he might refund it from his own wallet Smiley

Checking the link I do see it is last active on year 2014 and I don't see any updates or new post towards on such claims which means or we can presume that people aren't already concerned on claiming up since those funds were stolen just as I have read into previous comments.

The  amount is less than 1BTC
If its less than 1 btc then he might consider to give you back even just on a portion of his own wallet just like been said above. Good luck  Cool

So in the thread it was supposed to refund anyone that held a balance under 50 BTC which the OP claimed was supposed to be more than 99.5% of all wallets held on instawallet. He did not put any timeframe as far as I know.

The main thing would obviously be getting the attention of Boussac, and then it's up to him to process this claim, which he definitely should on the grounds of what he promised previously.

He seems to own this French crypto blog: http://e-ducat.fr/. At the bottom are some of his social media accounts which I won't post here but you can easily find, as well as his email etc. Do try contacting him via both PM and social media/email if you can. Include as much proof as possible as well in your messages.

Good luck!

His last active are on 9 March, at least he sees a notification from TryNinja.
Try to send him few more PMs, if he doesn't answer then you might consider that Boussac doesn't accept claims anymore, which is fair because it's already 5 years.
How much did you lost exactly anyway?

Not much. About 0.1 BTC.

It's not so much the amount that is bothering me, it's the feeling of having something lost which now has the chance to be retrieved. I just have to find out if it is possible to get it back after such a long time.

TryNinja sent a PM to him about this thread last March 4. He went online and had a post on March 7 and by checking his account, he was last active Today at 11:38:50 AM. He even had 2 posts, unfortunately he still did not reply here. Huh It's either you will choose to forget about this or continue waiting.

You should be able to recover it, technically. But it's really up to Boussac and his integrity.

But all in all, he should provide you at least with a reply and a justified explanation if he declines to give you back your funds. But what he said was that as long as your balance is under 50 BTC which yours was comfortably under you should be able to receive a refund. The only thing that may be an issue is that he mentioned "in the first 90 days" claims are used to populate a form, and it's clearly been way past that stage. Again, he should at least give you a response so that you don't need to waste more time on this.

2 e-mails and enough time, but still no answer. Not nice.

You should PM him as well as emailing him. He has been online for sure though. Not sure what he's doing or if he's just ignoring you.

OP says he can't send PM because he's a newbie Huh
If that the case, OP might want to consider to raise his rank to Jr.Member, it's fairly easy to do and does not require Merit.

No point in waiting if the PMs are getting ignored

omg. So I really need 30 posts to get to the level to be able to send a PM to boussac?

I'm not sure if the intention of this regulation was to make a user write 25 bogus replys just to become Jr. Member...

I don't think this matters. I PM'ed him with this thread 20 days ago and if he didn't answer me back or contact you, he probably doesn't care.

I am not responsible for loosing this money. I am only responsible for the 5 year delay. But he surely is responsible, so he should care.

Btw. This is one of the reasons why Bitcoins are still no real competion to classic currencies. A real Bank would have refunded me those euros, dollars or anything... if I cannot trust my bank then it will not be my bank anymore.

Well, back then Bitcoin are still not considered as real currency by many yet.
I doubt that Instawallet have any banking licenses or something like that back then.
Anyway, since it is clear that he probably doesn't care anymore with instawallet (It seems Bosusac moved on to different project), you can lock this topic to prevent any further spam from other members Smiley

The problem is that you are entrusting a third party with your money. And this third party is not regulated by anyone, so the chances of you getting scammed or hacked is much higher. If you used bitcoin like it's supposed to be used, within a wallet which you control everything including the private keys, then none of this would have happened. I don't think it's fair to blame BTC for this happening.

You are indeed not responsible for losing this money. He should refund you because when you used his service you expected that he owed you this amount no matter what.

He should care, but if he doesn't, then what you can do is launch a scam accusation and hopefully he gets tagged for shady behavior. But Tryninja already Pm'd him and based on the non-response you're getting, I don't think he's going to start attending to your case any time soon.

It's naturally, doing everything to get your own money from the past. But the problem is , the interval time is too far in this current time. I don't think you can get those money of yours, in the first place, your account is already deleted and you don't have evidence to prove it ( hoping you have ) . What do you think?

The only proof I have is the secret url which used to be enough evidence. But it's not anymore. Why? I don't know...
