I hit a crossroads where I don't know whether or not it makes sense to begin mining sha256 alts NOW because they have lower difficulty, or if I should continue to mine the most valuable (btc) until I reach February which at that point the masses of BE's will be mining alts like ppc coin or trc or possibly asicoin en masse due to v2 and potentially v3 hardware.  Looking for reasonable responses, not fanboys, not naysayers, not "you're an idiot, should've bought and hold!"

I've found that someone here will eventually ask how much one of these will earn. I found having an account on BTCguild with just one of these in it made it easy to answer that question. Multiples of 10 work too. Grin

With one? I would say alt coin mine before the rest of us switch to it. Then switch back to BTC solo mining - just let it hash away in a cupboard and check it once a month or something. Oh and overclock it mildly.

couple of missing options.

Sell it to someone else.

Plug into USB port but not hash. Use as nightlight.

There are no SHA-256 coins that are more profitable than BTC. Don't listen to him.

http://mining.thegenesisblock.com/a/963c0788fa

You have 3 options:

A) Sell it for ~$20 USD. It's about all they're worth. Prolly your best bet.
B) Keep it an mine ~$10 USD worth of BTC. As seen above, that's about all your can hope for.
C) Keep it and solo mine. You won't get any BTC, unless you get EXTREMELY lucky and get a block. I've heard of people getting blocks on their BEs, but it's highly doubtful, and getting more and more doubtful every time the difficulty goes up.

will it blend?

24" PCI-E cables with 16AWG wires and stripped ends - great for server PSU mods, best prices https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=563461

Try a hardware overclock. If it burns out in the magical blue smoke, consider it an omen.

Then either bin it, or mount it in a small elegant picture frame with the chip side visible under glass, sell on ebay as 'early example of ASIC miner pioneering overclock technology'.

Or maybe the correct answer is: buy another 20/40/60/100 block erupters to get a reasonable rate of hashing  Wink

Lol . Have enough to do all those tthings like 10x over.  I'm thinking about solomining tekcoin something not yet listed...can't use a calculator  for parameters...honestly you quote the genesis block all the time guys...its not the grail...mining gets cost prohibitive at 3 bill difficulty as your power to Hash competitivly.  Just armchair calculations....then a new lw doff sha256 gets attention...
