Ghost n Ghouls.  Possibly the hardest arcade game of all time and faithfully recreated on home consoles so that nobody can ever complete it without losing their sanity.   Even while cheating I swear its not possible :O

Source: a broken arcade machine giving infinite credits on said game.   No I never got anywhere near to half way through even
