Any college students here?  Any place at colleges you know that accepts bitcoins yet?  Napster, utorrent, and many other applications that led to the internet revolution were first embraced in colleges so perhaps that is a great place to gain wider acceptance for bitcoins...

The grue lurks in the darkest places of the earth. Its favorite diet is adventurers, but its insatiable appetite is tempered by its fear of light. No grue has ever been seen by the light of day, and few have survived its fearsome jaws to tell the tale.

With the decreasing profitability of mining, college dorms remain the most sensible place to mine with free electricity. So, in a way, college is playing some role in the bitcoin revolution.

I would love to see a college accepting bitcoins and keeping up with their rates.  I'm pretty sure the first little restaurant that decided this was feasible would be rolling in dough inevitably.

There is no "free" electricity unless your computer is plugged into a photovoltaic cell, and even then, someone had to buy that.

HURR DURR THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS FREE!

I think we all know that, what they mean is the person with the computer doesn't have to directly pay (just room+board they would pay anyways).

If you think profitability is bad now, you shoulda been around 2 years ago when it was absolutely abysmal.  The smart ones quit mining all together.  The lucky ones stayed in it.
