Hi. I have been reading a bit on the forums, and it seems that I may be wasting my time, trying to mine with NVIDIA.

I am using

NVIDIA GeForce 7050 / NVIDIA nForce 620i

(I don't think I can use CUDA for this)

and also using the scrypt version of GUIminer to mine for LTC

I joined a pool.

I tried to follow instructions as well as possible, though most of the time the instructions leap about all over the place, expecting me to know what they are doing I suppose.

Nonetheless, I click on 'Start Mining'

but I get a message that says: 'NOTHING TO MINE ON, EXITING'

And I theorize that it isn't mining, even though I clicked the button to start mining.

Can anyone help?

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

Only upper 8000er GForce (I think the lowest was 8800) and upwards support CUDA and OpenCL. So you need a newer Card if you realy want to mine on GPU (only makes sense for Scrypt/Scrypt-Jane Altcoins now).

So does that mean that I won't be able to mine with my current NVIDIA card?
