Spend a few millions worth of my coins to get a good lawyer and make my sentance as easy as possible. Then after I get out, retire with the other few million I have and lead a simple life. Live off the interest, and invest in some mining equipment. Find a girl, settle down and have a family.

According to his posts on SR forums, he had considered both the possibility of spending the rest of his life in prison and/or dying for SR.  Of course considering something in the abstract is a whole lot different than being faced with it as a very real, immediate possibility.  Whatever romanticised image he might have had of himself may well have dissolved in the face of the cold hard reality with which he's now presented.

While DPR will likely always be recognised as a pioneer for starting SR, I think you're buying into the romanticism if you believe that he'd be regarded as a "legend" or a "sacrificed hero" if he committed suicide.

And you're going to prove the money with which you're paying your lawyer is "clean" how?  Remember that literally everything related to him is subject to seizure right now.  In order to spend/liquidate it, he has to prove it was legally acquired. 

He's not getting out for decades.  Assuming he even survives prison, would you be confident enough that BTC will still be around and worth something in 30 years to rely on it for funding your post-prison life?

I'm guessing DPR could get plenty of 'clean' funds from sympathizing Libertarian fan-boys.  Like Zimmerman did with gun-nuts/racists/both.

If the guy retains any trusted friends on the outside he could probably 'launder' his stash through some sort of 'help DPR' fund to pay for legal expenses.  When the prison gang networks find out that he may command that kind of money with a decent communications network (which they can provide) then he'll probably be fairly welcome.  Without communications (and a trusted outsider...with balls of steel...) he probably could not get at his stash and thus it would not do much good to try to shake him down in the pokey.  I think that there is some possibility that he could arrange as tolerable a life as is possible in the pen.  A lot of it will have to do with how well he planned and set things up for this eventuality.  If at all.

Year reasoning skill seems to be damaged beyond repair... seriously even if drug dealing would be considered a heroic deed (which I doubt) comitting suicide because one has to go to jail for it will decrease, not increase, the heroic quality. He will look like a wimp that can not endure incarceration, choosing an easy exit.
