Is a 3.38MH/s LTC mining rig (around 3.38GH/s BTC mining) that costs around $3000 a good price? It's 1800Watts is that normal or too high? I was worried with a 15amp breaker that I would constantly be tripping the breaker. How do other people get around this?
I set my 3 GPU (1 x 7970, 2 x 7950) LTC rig up about 8 months ago, I have about $1500-$1600 CAD into it and I get a nice easy 2.1 Mh/s. The rig runs off one corsair 850w PSU.
1800 watts is the maximum draw you can pull from a 120V 15A circuit so you could easily trip the breaker with that rig. At 1800 watts 24/7 its likely even if you don't trip the breaker that the conductor in the wall will heat up. General safety rule of thumb is to not run a circuit past 80% rated capacity.
How do guys handle it? Split the load up, find two different 15A circuits and use two PSU's to power the rig or hire a licensed electrician to run a new 20A circuit from your panel (providing you have available space and ampacity in the panel) to the install location of the rig.
