It seems there are some fools having arguments over BBQCoin (BBQ, BQC) right now. This thread is to help people to get on the right BBQCoin path. Some backstory will be provided after the useful information.

The current official website, downloads and code repository will be listed below. Proof that the following information is the correct path to take is located in this failure of a thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=219651.0

Downloads / Source

The following links are the official places to get BBQCoin software and information:
--- Official BBQcoin Github repository
BBQCoin information is also on this page: http://www.lurkmore.com/wiki/Cryptocurrency_information_and_wallet_client_downloads

Syncing the client

When you have installed or compiled BBQCoin, find the bbqcoin.conf (%APPDATA%\BBQCoin in Windows, ~/.bbqcoin in Linux) and add one supernode from below.

*need supernodes*

P2Pool nodes

Note: It's best to use P2Pool!
-- LURKMORE BBQCoin P2Pool node
-- darkgamex.ch

Other pools

-- BBQ Pool

Exchanges

-- Cryptsy BQC/BTC
-- Bter BQC/BTC

Block explorer

-- darkgamex.ch block explorer for BBQCoin

Payment processors

-- CoinPayments

Merchants / Services

-- NewsBam

History of BBQCoin

Here's the current situation, as of October 2013:

After the original developer, Cubox, abandoned the coin, a few people got together and started to update the client. This happened about 6 months ago, as you can see from the thread linked above.

It seems CaptChadd tried to fork BBQCoin; he didn't get any input from the community, nor from any of the other developers, and so his attempt was rejected. I had CaptChadd on ignore but forgot why until I read the following thread and realized (again) that it's because he's an idiot: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=198329.340. His thread is a joke: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=198329.0. The thread doesn't contain any useful information in the OP post and it helps nobody.

Notes:

The original release thread for BBQCoin: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=93437.0

Oh yeah, I forgot about that site.

I just wanted to let the community know that we're now accepting BBQCoin as a payment option at our website. We provide thumbnailed usenet photos and streaming videos from the top Usenet groups.

Nice, I'll add a Services section too.

The same question. And if yes, what nodes should I add to sync the wallet with the current blockchain?  Smiley
