Hello,

U know why i started with btc?
Cause i saw a video who explain my account cannot be frozen, and cause i hate banks.

But mtgox dont work with the spirit of btc.

Today i wanted to withdraw some btc from mtgox, and they say me my account is pending rewiew.

They ask me my ID and all.

I dont want to give them anything and i want my btc back.
WTF, i dont change email, nothing special, why they do that?

I need some money now in emergency and they block me.

I have a LOT of money on this account. What can i do?

You have learnt one thing. Keep your money in your possession. Store it on a offline computer if you don't think you'll be touching it. (Until you need it)

Gox is now subject to AML/KYC laws. The days of anonymously moving $10K+ amounts are over. It's not a bitcoin thing, it's because at gox you are involving fiat currency. Fiat money is not your money and comes with a lot of rules and regulations.
I sucks for you, I know. But giving your identity is likely here to stay; especially at a public exchange.

The only way out is to buy bitcoins and move them to another exchange.
Bitcoin cannot be frozen but fiat yes.

I am pretty sure MtGox makes people verify even to cash out BTC now also.

It's a mess now over on that exchange.

Apparently you can withdraw your funds if you pay some kind of fees... I don't have a Mtgox account so I can't tell for sure.

How about canceling this withdraw, if you even did withdraw, and then trading this money back to BTC, withdraw THAT, then sell the BTC or something.  Do you need ID for BTC withdrawals?

And yeah, that's why I hate MT. GOX, but you made the choice, so too bad...

He can't withdraw btc. Thats probably one reason why gox volume is 1/4 of the volume on stamp today.

WOW, lucky I was rejected by MtGox, my utility bill was in Thai and they rejected my verification.

I was verified with BitStamp and have not had the slightest problem.  BitStamp reply very quickly to any message you send.  They are also cheaper.

It surprises me MtGox are still in business with all the horror stories you read.

Me too, but it was half year ago. I heard their Bitcoin policy changed, you need ID to even withdraw BTC (even though you never deposited USD)

Exactly.

I only recently set up an account with Mt Gox. I sent scanned copies of my documents one one day and in less than 24 hours I was verified.

After all of the negative stuff I had read about Gox prior to doing this, this quick verification process was a pleasant surprise.

BTC worth 10k USD is a lot of money. I advise you to simply verify with your own ID and a utility bill. Get out of MtGox and out of dodge immediately when you become verified.

Honestly: I don't get why anyone expects to be able to send that kind of money back and worth without providing basic information about yourself. Banks require you to show some form of ID when you open an account. The same thing applies to stock brokers.

I agree with this completely... 10k vs. not showing your id? just send proof and get your 10k, that seems like a very fair deal lol...

MtGox is famous for not letting people withdraw their money. Your best way would be buy back the BTC and transfer it to btc-e.com or coinbase....

mtgox is on the way out. they are only still used so much because before they were the biggest/only major exchange. now its so much hassle for everyone. not all their fault i dont think, the us gov. has cracked down on them. localbitcoins is the way to go now i think. just need to be careful for being scammed but its easy enough to avoid.

I personally verified with MtGox but I was spooked with their behavior and have no intention of ever using them.

I went through a huge runaround sending them scans of valid document after valid document for proof of residence constantly getting rejected for absurd reasons.

Finally after scanning an insurance bill, only to receive the response that it was rejected because "letters are not a valid proof of residence", I wrote a polite yet somewhat forceful reply saying more or less, "This is not a 'letter', this is an insurance bill. Can you please provide me with a real exhaustive list of what you accept so we can stop wasting time going back and forth?".

Sure enough, suddenly I receive an email saying that I've been verified.

If the customer service surrounding getting verified is on this level of unprofessionalism, I can't possibly imagine trusting them ever with any non-trivial amount of money.

That really blows but when you want coins turned into fiat, well this is what happens. USA is more worried about people not paying taxes, but they will tell a different story like "It could be used to fund terrorists etc".......please! Just like the drug dogs they illegally run around cars 40miles north of the border "looking for illegal immigrants".......because Dogs can distinguish by scent who has a legit green card or US ID. It s a joke in this country anymore, Mt Gox is all jacked up because of USA and its in Japan IIRC.......seriously wtf?

Seriously, if you deal with centralized exchange, you must provide your identity proof. This centralized exchange must comply with antilaudering laws. It is not fault of Bitcoin you have now prove your identity proof or kiss your BTC at centralized exchange good bye.
