I recently started a new job after being out of work for a few months, it's amazing how much money you can don't spend when you don't have a choice. My monthly expenditure dropped by about 90% just by staying in and (most of the time) not drinking, not ordering any take aways (well, maybe a couple), buying alternative brand cheaper food options and generally being a hermit. Not the most fun times I've ever had, but if I do it again when I'm actually earning money, I will save a fair bit. That would be my tip, pretend you don't have any money, you'll soon find ways to save it.
