There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

the population numbers of devon are not much in comparison to london. maybe you should stretch it out to cornwall, dorset and somerset.. as exeter is a nice central point and an easy commute (within 1 hour) from these places. making it the southwest 'hub' of bitcoin.

yep im up for a meetup,

compared to the london conference, the cambridge/manchester pub meetups, exeter is easy to get to so it would be great to have a southwest 'hub' for us Southwest folk, i was thinking of setting up one near me that included as far as cornwall < -> bristol, but exeter seems a more central point for the southwest.
plus later (after a few drinks) once organised if you do have access to hall space at the university then that too will be a great destination for everyone down this end of the country to visit.
