Price Bitcoin in 10 years: $ 100 or $ 100.000

Harvard professor reflects on the future of the crypto currency.

"Actual use of Bitcoin as a means of payment is very small" compared to the use of a crypto currency for money laundering and tax evasion, says Kenneth Rogoff, a Harvard professor and former chief economist at the IMF.

Taking into account the above facts, Professor Rogoff concludes: "I think that Bitcoin will cost a tiny fraction of what it costs now ... in ten years ...

I would go with the prediction of $100,000 per coin. If gold can have a market cap of $7 trillion, then it is quite possible that Bitcoin in future may be able to attain a market capitalization of $1.7 trillion. You also need to remember that the interest in assets such as gold is going down.

Another one of those persons who have a stature in life acting smart on Bitcoin. Even though he is a Harvard professor it does not mean all what he is saying will be 100$ true. Bitcoin is still growing and the acceptance of Bitcoin can become more prevalent in the future. And his argument about Bitcoin being used more for money laundering and tax evasion is not Bitcoin's fault but it is the fault of many bad individuals. Even before the creation of Bitcoin can be said the same thing to Fiat as it can be used for money laundering as well as tax evasion.

My opinion maybe 10 years ahead the bitcoin price could reach $ 100.000 and it does not close the possibility of several months ahead bitcoin prices could reach $ 20.000, because bitcoin prices It depends heavily on the market price which is always experiencing Go down and go up drastically....
Thank you

This could be possible in a given prior year and the price can be $100,000 mark by that time but we can not be possible because this is only a speculation but if this analysis is correct the price right now can be a tiny fraction of what the price can attain in the future, So just earn and hodl more bitcoin that you can right now because it can be very difficult to attain more bitcoin when that day comes.

I would be hesitant to believe what I heard based solely on the source. If you are a ex chief economist at IMF, you probably still have some sort of bias. Also the dude is older which means generally they are resistant to change. Would change my opinion on the matter if this came from a young non IMF economist, but then again you probably wouldn't hear that from them Roll Eyes.

Over the next ten years, bitcoin will have time to reach its maximum value and then descend because of panic among investors for whatever reason, to a minimum price. So, apparently, bitcoin during this time can reach a price of one hundred thousand dollars and fall to a hundred dollars.

As I said earlier in another discussion. That bitcoin is not just an asset, it's a currency. And a very expensive currency. We can anonymously do transactions with minimal commissions. This is the future of money

I think both are right in terms of the outcome being binary. I don't believe there'll be a middle ground by then. Either it'll have continued insinuating itself ever deeper into the wider world or it fades away.

I'm betting on six figures rather than three myself but I would do that being here and all.

This is really a hard question. There are 2 possible scenarios : 1- Bitcoin will get more known and it will have more investors, that means that it will get more recognized and its value will increase the same as gold. The other scenario, Bitcoin will get more users but less investors. That will cause the decrease of its value. But, if i have to choose, i would say that its value will rise, i don't know how much. But it will.

I dont agree with what the professor is saying,"bitcoin will cost a tiny fraction of what it cost now in ten years?" .The whole world is becoming digitalized as the years passes by, so i think the demand for bitcoin and cryptocurrency should rather go high in the coming years instead of decreasing.

This and I mean in the end BTC will be a finite resource people want to exchange the more widespread its use(which is the best we cn hope for in the future) the more it'll be worth

i see bitcoin in few years from now touching 100,000$ for 1 because very soon more adopters will come in and more investors and multi million companies been opened daily. and banks will have no option than to start investing into bitcoin.

Maybe Bitcoin drop to 100 Usd but this is certain there will be a coin which took place of Bitcoin. Blockchain and crypto still will be in future.
