I don't think that it's a good idea to wait for a passive income from POS. None of them will give you a big profit especially from 1000$ investment. I would recommend you to invest your money in a good ICO or just buy some blockchain coins like FSN or ICX for a long term. Investing in the right coin is very important so that it can help you to keep earning passive income just while holding the coin. Like last year if you had bought btc in Jan 2017 and kept till Dec you would have earned a huge amount as it has provided multiple returns just by holding the btc.
