IMO, the most important thing is private key. If PIN/Password and you forget or lose any access to get it then your cant access your wallet. But if you save your private key and store it in safe place than if you forget password even lose your wallet file you can still access your wallet balance.

The bold part is where you get it wrong as relying on services provided by exchange sites is the worst decision anyone can take as a measure to keep his fund safe and the reason is simple, when an hacker comes for the exchange site, all of those measures becomes a child's play as the wallet where all of the fund is stored is what is being targeted of course when the fund is gone, all controls becomes useless couple with the fact that there is no regulatory body to ensure funds are insured or deposits are made to a central authority to ensure that depositors bitcoins are kept safe.

The most important is to keep your funds where you have private key and save it in both hard copy, pictures, or cloud if one get compromised, you are sure that the other will serve as a catalyst to put you back on track without that, the funds are lost forever.

And we will be screwed up badly. I mean common if someone really hacks your wallet then the only thing that you have is senders and receive address and nothing else. You can't identify who was it and from where they were. The hackers will just flee away without any more concrete proofs. I mean later on they can simply use services like chipmixers and then add more privacy to stolen coins. This way you can't identify them at all.

But on the other hand it's our responsibility that we should store these private keys and PIN very secure and also on multiple location so that we don't loose them at all. Hack is little impossible without getting hands on them.

It is your responsibility to take care of your Private keys and password of your account. That's why if ever that your account get hacked or stolen by other people or hackers. You are the only one to blame. It is because of you carelessness. Actually no one can do hacking stuff if they don't have information about your account, Like your password, recovery or private key. If you keep your things in a proper and safe place. You will never be a victim of hacking. BUT besides from hacking account from password/private keys, there is another way how hackers can stole your account and this is called "Phishing". We need to be aware of this. This can stole your account if you login using their site (a fake site) because it can record your email and password. But don't worry, avoiding this is as easy as avoiding your ex boyfriend. By just ignoring unknown or suspicious links/websites you will be safe from phising.

Also don't trust people you just met in internet. Don't click link sent by PM by unknown people. This might be phising. Always be aware, and your account/wallet will be safe.

as long as we can save the private keys, I think we can reducing the other people to steal our bitcoin although it is not 100% guarantee. but at least, we can feel that only we that will know the place to save the private keys. I think if someone knows our private keys and they also know bitcoin, they will make a fast move to transfer our bitcoin to their wallet and they will leave it our wallet with the empty amount. so if we don't save it right now, then we need to start to move the amount to the saving places.

Save the private key in some encrypted USB keys, not store them on your pc and you should be fine.

Any secure access have the same "rules".

~ Store your password <private key> in a cool, dry place.
~ Store it in multiple locations. <redundancy>
~ Scramble or encrypt the text, so that you would be the only person who would be able to decrypt it.
~ Leave some hints to trusted family members or friends, if something happens to you.

You will be fine, if you follow these guidelines to store your passwords & Private keys.

i don't know what OP means by password/PIN, probably he had some web wallet in mind when he said that which is obviosly the worst way of storing bitcoin. but i just wanted to mention that when you store your private keys, even in a paper wallet (printing it on a paper after using something like bitaddress.org) it is best that you encrypt that private key with a password so it is not easy for someone to steal it by just looking at your paper.

Of course your bitcoin will be gone because its irreversible.

That's why you really need to be careful not exposing your password/pin/privatekey. Its really up to us, how to protect our assets. We have witness a lot of members here losing huge amount of bitcoins, tokens to the hackers. But who is to blame?

There are also countless tips around here, what's the best wallet and everything. But if you don't do your put and due diligent, one way or another you will lose it everything. So be careful and not to trust anyone with your sensitive information in cryptos.

true the most important thing is the private key , keep it safe and don't try to open link or sites that they call pishing site as they can access to your account. and always have a back up on your files especially the password or private key and also use the 2fa I think that makes ot safer.

When you use Bitcoin, the security of your account is due to you as the network is secure and can’t be hacked:

• Use hardware wallets for long-term holding.
• If you have trouble remembering places and numbers, use 1password
• cryptosteel for hardware wallets.
