Hi all,

Since we have received word that the Corsair HX850 is not recommend for use on the knc miner, can those who are currently hashing away with a knc miner that have not had any issues with blown caps post which psu they are using?

I think this would be helpful for those who are still searching for the right psu to use as this would certainly be reassuring knowing that someone else is successfully using a certain model/brand.

I went with Coolermaster V850....I saw that was the product line they were using and decided to go with what they were doing.

Seems like a good decision....I think after googling Corsair problems that you guys using anything from them with a KNCMiner are crazy.

Seasonic makes the HX850... and dozens of other brands.  Seasonic PSUs are considered to be the best by many PC enthusiasts.

Here's a current, comprehensive list of who makes your PSU...

I have a Corsair AX860 waiting for my Mercury.  It's made by Flextronics so I'll feel safe using it.

What is wrong with the Corsair HX850? I contacted the KnCMiner support team, they told me I can use that.  Huh

Well you obviously contacted them more than a week ago.  Things have radically changed since then.   Wink

In theory yes but I think you'll want (or need) more headroom in practice.  I wouldn't go with less than 850 for each Jupiter.

I have always thought that the AX860 was made by Seasonic and the AX860i by Flextronics.

Seasonic PLATINUM-1000 ATX 1000 Power Supply

I also have this waiting (also got it from amazon) *bonus* paid for it with bitcoin via Gyft Smiley

Does anyone know or have link explaining what was the problem with that Corsair? Might it be a problem that also affects other power supplies?

Oh god, don't say that!

*edit
After a quick Google, I think you're right.  Hopefully the HX850 and the AX860 are completely different PSUs.  I might not take my chances and just return mine and upgrade to the 860i.
