Someone donated 10 BTC directly to the forum's main donation address 17RTTUAiiPqUTKtEggJPec8RxLMi2n9EZ9. (This is not what you're supposed to do if you want Donator status.) Someone is trying to claim this donation for Donator status, but they can't prove that they sent it. If you actually sent this 10 BTC, sign a message with 1ECTrZNum3ojyfDnZbkDBALtfwWL54wtZL. Otherwise, I'll give the status to the guy who already contacted me about claiming it.

Could you link it? I've search but haven't found anything yet. Although, that still doesn't proof it.

Yes. 10 BTC wasn't worth much when the forum was established.

1. watch blockchain for transactions headed to donation address 2. wait 3. 4. free VIP/donor status! It's rare for someone to pay such large amounts to 17RTT... (except for my huge internal transfers), and he contacted me quickly, so it's probably likely that he actually sent it. The possibility that he didn't is why I'm posting this.

Can't you just ask him/her to send another specific small payment from the same wallet, like 0.001234, to prove that they're the original donator?

Or just sign a message... which is what he's asking them to do

He claims to have used bips.me, an EWallet. And when he asked bips.me to sign something like I recommended, they apparently didn't know what he was talking about...

Strange, I just don't see someone sending 10BTC for a donation and not making a fuss about not having it yet.

Exactly one person did make a fuss right away, which is why I'm inclined to believe him even though he doesn't have any real proof.

Yeah but they would want the rank right. I mean that he may wanted just to donate. Not to buy a rank. Thus not making a big fuss in the forum.

Donating means not expecting anything in return. But obviously this forum does reward donators.

That's what I use to say. A donator will not ask for anything in return. On the other hand, a little "thank you" is always appreciated, be it in the form of a vanity title, having your name on a plate somewhere, a tie-pin, whatever. So, any effort to find out who the donator was and awarding him with the title should be considered "the right thing to do"™
